Random type players. Just wondering, does a civ keep haunting you (I see a lot of you haunted by Babylon).

When I start a game, everything is random (Barbarian level I always put on insane).

When you start a random game, do you seem to always be stuck next to the same civ? Even if you don't start next to that haunting civ, does he/she always give you hell later in the game?

My experience has been with the French. Usually they are always right next to me, always annoyed with me. I can't make the bitc! happy. She's always trying to find my weakness (galleys cruzing the coast, finding a city that is weak, so she can take it over with her two whatever azzhoools).

Egyptians haunt me quite a bit too. Freaking warmonger bit ....

Maybe some of you lucked out and actually got random everytime! I keep having to deal with the freaking French (and Egyptians) all the time. Feel like I'm stuck in some kind of Friday the 13th movie. :)
:egypt:

I don't really worry about civs haunting me, because I find myself killing them as soon as I meet them:mwaha:  :mwaha:

Egypt. Cleo always mess/in the way with me/us in my SP/SG games.

Of course, she didn't survive long the contact. :D

I find that Persia and China are always bothering me. Im not a finely tuned Civ player so I have problems destroying them, so they bother me the whole game

France. Only France!

I mean, which civ in it`s right mind will spit on 200 Gold / turn for an MPP that is now 1 turn old (thus spit on 19 * 200 = 3800 Gold) in late Middle Ages? They declared war on my side, next turn they turn around and declare war against me because they allied with my enemy. The same enemy they just declared war to!

Now if they`d done it once. Or twice. but I`ve seen that 5 times!!!!!

:nuke:  :shootie:

Now I usually attack them right away

England. Elizabeth always frickin' backstabs me. This probaly has something to do with the fact that the first Civ3 game I played, I as the Iroquois, pulled a middle-ages d-day and RoP backstabbed Lizzy and took all her cities except those in Greenland. I'm assuming she's getting revenge for all the coldness I inflicted upon her. :D

To all these people who hate Babylon ... if you dislike playing against them so much, have you ever tried playing as them?

I used to play them all the time (for all those cheap cultural buildings) until I decided see what all the fuss over fast workers is. So I played Egypt for a while, but I started to miss having cheap libraries and universities.

Yeah, their UU sucks, but man do i love religious/scientific....

all important buildings are cheap, since barracks are cheap anyway and I never get round to marketplaces until I have the power to produce fast, and I just love haing no anarchy!

persia, Xerxes' hair strangles me in my nightmares :)

I second this, it seems like every game I'm not Persia I have issues with them.

Just recently got invaded by three seperate stacks of Immortals. They were unstoppable primarily because it was right on the heals of a war with my other nightmare, Montezuma.

And I always seem to get those two civs close to me, the Aztecs to go crazy right away with Jags, preventing me from bulking up for the inevitable attack from Immortals.

I am haunted by China.

I hate riders and have to spend time building a LOT of cavalry to take out something like 100 riders when I attack them or those <insert expletive> riders start taking over my smaller cities:mad:

I normally don't build a single Bowman, and rely on wonders for my GA. But the hardest part of going from Egypt back to Babylon will be trading in the war chariot for that bowman. I'm trying to think up a suitable replacement UU ...

I agree.
China ends up bugging me to no end. For this reason, I usually end up playing as them.
Those riders make me shudder everytime I see them. As allhailIndia said, when you run across one of them you have a good idea that 20 of them are lurking somewhere out of sight.
The creeps.

Never tried playing as them... Then again, I randomly choose who I will play and eventually I should get them. If I played them all the time, then there would be another civ that I hated so it all evens out.

China, do I hate China!

They are always building cities where I plan to build.
They rip you off and declare war even when they are polite.
They have never anything worthwile to trade.
Those riders.

Their food is excellent though!

That's kind of funny cause...

When I first got the game, was always next to the freaking Egyptians. ALWAYS! and .. they always annoyed me I always annoyed them. Finally, I decided to play the Egyptians a lot. Hey, I kicked butt with them but I was always next to the freaking French! So, I learned to hate another civ.

So, I played the French for awhile. They kick butt. I was always next to the freaking Egyptians!

So.. I went back to just being a random player (even though I do start a game with the Iraquois sometimes, just like 'em).

u should turn off culturally linked starting locations.

i mostly play as persia cos of that scientific and industrious trait.
i have the usual babylonian nightmare but since i play at
monarch/emperor damn near everyone starts off hating
me except the zulus who always start out polite...until
they get a little far ahead techwise.
