I made this symbol, but the more I look at it the more familiar it looks to me. I know its fairly standard Celtic knotwork design, but I'm hoping there isn't already a Game or company that uses it as its symbol.

Does anyone recognize it as a companies symbol?

I don't. And I couldn't find one using similar-image searches.

The problem with celtic knotwork, is it is all so similiar. The picture you showed has elements I have seen in a lot of different stuff, but nothing composed like your picture. I am about 93% sure you are safe as far as originality goes. (if you do not get that number reference then read it as 99.9%)

Ha, you're right about all these things looking the same. Closest I could find was this hair tie thing.

I don't recognize it. Yeah, it looks familiar, but most knotwork does.

Cool, thanks guys.

I honestly kinda like the coloration, even though it seems "almost too elven/alphar"

In this case, however, the pattern seems to go well with that color scheme. So Kudos.

I'd personally rather use Armageddony colors, or Ashen Veil-y colors, but thats just me ;) (and also I'd have to find a new knot-work pattern, as I doubt red and black would look too hot with that particular pattern ... or maybe just pick "similar" colors like brown and crimson)

but yea, the symbol "works for me" in the visual appeal department. Also, pretty sure its original as-in not commercially used in a serious avenue.

I don't recognize it as a company's symbol or anything that is copyrighted. But, I can see how one might suspect it as being someone recognizable. Its pattern is reminiscent of the symbol for "Chaos."

Because of the way the long edges cross in a pattern and the celtic knots obscure portions of it, it's easy to see it being mistaken for that symbol.

I seem to remember Ultima using some celtic scrollwork and they liked their symbology. I can't remember seeing that pattern anywhere though.

Not quite. The symbol for Chaos is the Eight Pointed Star. Not what Kael has created at all. Wrong number of points, and they aren't points at all.

Kaels one looks more like something you'd see in an episode of 'Supernatural'.

that's the mercedes star for celtic limousines.

It's the relationship between the spokes and the occlusion caused by the knotwork that I am referring to. No, it's not an exact match. But, it doesn't have to be in order to provoke a recognition response.

I thought it was a metaphor for parenthood, myself.

I think Morkonan got it right.
The reason why the knotwork seems known to us might really be that we know the Chaos star and our unconscious made a link.
