Does it make ANY difference what Nationality i a choose?

If it matters what civ you choose within a color slot, what effect does your choosing to customize the name of the civ have? I would guess you would just get the benefits of whatever civ it is that you are typing over. Thus if you chose to customize the Celts, you wanted to be the Irish, you would still be linked into any tech tendencies that the Celts have.

To my knowledge, there is no binary storage for Civ-specific tech tendancies. However, the program does (though I have not tried to prove it) use the leader characteristics to influence a number of factors, which could well include such things as you mention. So if you wanted to make pacifiscts of a new Irish civ, the results should correspond to those obtained with any leader which possesses the same characteristics you gave the Irish leader when you edited the .TXT files.

Actually, although I've done the .txt edit method, I was actually trying to refer to the simple customization at the start of a game when you select your civ, you can choose to change the name of the civ, leader name, etc.
