Just two examples of things people know that clearly "work" swiftly. There are lots of substances that have almost immediate effects on the human organism.

Cyanide is almost immediately absorbed if you take it orally. As are other things, so it is well possible your medicine, too.

By the way, as for different methods of taking stuff, never give yourself a vodka enema. It will kill you. Just saying...

Well it may not need to be broken down as much as the pills so is absorbed through the mouth lining or something. This is if I remember my high school biology class right... I know some chemicals can be absorbed in the skin.

People have killed their partners that way, involuntarily. It might sound cool - if you are into enemas, I guess - but you gotta be rather careful with the dosage. The intestines absorb alcohol much faster than you might be used to from taking the stuff orally...
