Does the Game have to end at 2050 AD?

Does anyone know if there is a way to have the game progress regardless of turn expiration? The game has been shortened by 150 turns, which I feel greatly reduces the level of game play. Is there an option to change the victory conditions and opt out of the 2050 AD turn limit?

Hopefully, seeing as even PTW allowed to double the turn limit for Civ3. I hope we won't need to wait for the expansion to play "mythical" games, though (Well, what else could be beyond epic?).

I am pretty sure that the final score will be determined by 2050. Most probably you might play on after that, but for what?

Do you want to play past the preset turn amount, or past 2050?

unfortunatly, i really hate the sense of having a limited game
fortunatly, we can still continue playing after the game is over
unfortunatly, i hate not having anymore statistics (shown when you retire) available after the end of the game

I really wish the end date was not fixed. Time should fly according to mean technology level, or something similair, so the ending date might be much later or earlier than 2050 AD with the same number of turns.

Civ is a game meant to be played several times tho, so what if it the scoring ends at 2050? ^^

Im sure you can mod it away though.
