Hi all!

Well ok it's a nice game and I played it since about 7 years now but they are still not able to:

-build an interesting domestic political system because all you can do is switch governments and thats about it

I miss THIS to the named advances:

-Printing Press -->
should enable a written press by your people or a controlled press, but a newspaper should appear with News, help, world happinings and headlines like "a new wonder bla bla"...i miss that

-Satellites -->
Where are they? I used to be able to watch the whole world with them...

-Where are the micromanaging politics such as repressing rebells, Border patrols, police for your citizens, crime problems...
all we have is just the necessary ones to be able to kill all other civs...

-Why are almost all units for fighting? Where are civil units except workers (nice word, he?) and settlers?

What about tourism, immigration from other civs, international coperations, REAL trade not this poor gems-ivory stuff...

Also the diplomacy is absolutely WAR-orientated! All you can do and say has one sense --> strategical war!

No one ever asks me to please disarm myself with all that nuclear weapons. There are no Unit supports for other civs when they need you in war...

I like the game but it is not a civ game...you should call it

Genozide III

sincerely,
uwe

I agree. It would be nice to see all of the above. However, I'd just be satisfied with expanded diplomacy and better border implementation.

Diplomacy-wise, I'd like to see Arms Agreements, enforcing the policy of cutting down military production. This shouldn't too hard to implement. All Firaxis has to do is tweak the Governor settings for the AI, when it agrees to such a proposal. Also, I'd like to see the option of coarsing a civ to join my empire; ala the Soviet Union. The leader running that civ would still be in charge, but I could interfere in his(actually, the governor's) decisions, and overturn them. For example, if he's building a military unit, I could change the production, to build an improvement or Wonder.

As for borders, IMO, they should expand quicker in the Early-Middle Ages. Once your reach the Industrial Ages, you can longer expand your borders, due to culture. Expanding would now be determined by your military might. That, or using my idea above, through diplomatic means.

Culture flipping should be yanked out of the game. If Firaxis intends to use the idea of culture flipping, it should no longer be based solely on culture, but also happiness, production and the system of government. If citizens of that empire are in civil unrest, the AI should either change their government or flip and join my empire.

I had other ideas, that go along with what I said here. You can find those in the XP Suggestions thread.

Thanks for reading,

I propose losing citizens instead of entire cities.....I too feel that entire city flips is too intrusive on the game, especially when you have a big force garrisoned there (the whole disappearing from the game thing).

Either that, PaleHorse, or have them overthrow their government and put in place, a new one. Which one, would be determined by civ statistics. For example, if I(Russia) am communist, along with China, and we have the highest rankings in most categories, they would switch to our government type, based on our overall statistics. As for my empire-flipping idea, I guess it would be too much, since it would benefit the player greatly.

BTW, ufftyuwe, if you're looking for something similar to your ideas, you should look into the upcoming Rise of Nations, or, assuming you never played it, you should also look into Tropico, a micromanagement, island-builder.
