Domination Problems

I've just started playing Civ 3 Multiplayer Gold. Even when I turn the "domination victory" option off during game setup, the games always end in a domination victory. How can I rid myself of this problem so I can experience the other types of endgames?

What do you mean by Civ3 Multiplayer Gold? There are 3 types of civ3:
Civ3 (aka vanilla civ3)
PTW (play the world)
Conquests.
You must have one of the last two to have multiplayer.

As to your problem, I'm not sure. Are you surre you didn't turn off 'diplomatic' by mistake, or something like that? A screenshot would be helpful.

I have play the world. I turn everything else on except for domination... but no matter how I play the game still ends that way.

and also what patch/version of PTW do you have?

Do you mean you get to the game time limit (2050 AD)?

You have to reach a victory status before that date for it to work. If you want more turns you can change that in the editor.

True, Spooky bread, can you send us a screenshot of what you mean? Then we can help you more. Use print screen on the keyboard, and paste it into a photo program. Attack it when you post your reply, in advanced mode. Thanks!

I think the "MP" victories like Regicide and Mass Regicide show up as domination victories. Do you have one of them on?

No. I've never played a regicide game. The only time one of my games didn't result in a domination victory (or loss) was when I had the domination option turned on. And in that game I was playing on Chieftan level and REALLY controlled an overwhelming majority of the map. I think maybe the option comes on when it should be off and vice versa. Next game I'll try turning it on again and see what happens.
BTW I can't do a screen shot because I have no photo programs.

Don't need a photo program. Just hit 'PrintScreen", and then open up a program such as MSPAINT. When the program loads, do a "Edit/Paste" and save the file. Make sure you change it to a .jpg or .gif. Those take up less space the the default .bmp.

Then upload it to the forums using the 'Upload File' link at the bottom of the page, or simply attach it to your post.

Since you're saying it's working when it's off, and not working when it's on, one wonders if you have the settings reversed....

That sounds very much like you've had them mixed up...

Spooky - To us all it sounds like you have the switches reversed. Please post a screenshot so we can confirm. There are clearer instructins on the FAQ thread stickied to the top of Civ3-General Discussions.
