so I finally did it first attempt at it beat deity. slightly misleading to say first attempt because there was lots of experience gained at emperor and immortal and the time i played deity in the future era as china v ghandi duel nuke grab, to get the victory which hardly counts but meh.

anyway got a diplomatic victory with greece in 1800s which came very close to losing to a nuclear trigger happy ghandi and his space program and a nuked to hell persia and there culture rush.

was a bit interesting to see a war mongering trigger happy ghandi nuking all local rivals and committing genocide thought they were meant to be personalities corresponding to historical counterparts.

also noted i decided to play on despite been declared on before i had completed a worked turns out an archer ex scout and a warrior plus a purchased warrior plus city bombard can actually repel an early attack.



anyway how impressive is beating deity? have like a lot of people done it or not?

Good job. I have only beaten it once with Babylon (with a end score of 700, 3 of my 5 cities were captured in the last 20 turns) with a space race. Very close call too. I have tried a bunch of games after that with different civs and different tactics but I have always failed to win. Immortal I can win pretty much every time, its just that with Deity I get rushed every single time, I have to build an army and my empire stops growing, and I always stay far behind on science, I never seem to catch up (except with Babylon).
How did you get a diplomatic victory? That seems like an uncommon victory type for Deity since the AI has so much cash always.

I got myself allied with every single city state then once i got factories headed straight for globalisation to build the un. I knew it was going to come down to a bidding war so kept selling lux resources for cash and horded it all ready comp kept outbidding me a few turns before the un complete and all the way to the vote but i just outbid back by the time it came down to the final turn i was out of all the cash but it was done at that point.

i could have saved myself a lot of trouble by declaring on all of them with ten turns to go but that just almost seems like cheating.

I once tried to play on deity but I did not make it far. It was the late classical period and I was quite broke and I needed to buy some colosseums to make my pissed empire happy. So to afford this I contacted Isabella and asked for all her gold. This was a great mass of around 1200 gold, and I swear 3/4 was hidden her hair. She said she would give me all her gold if I gave her all my resources. So I declared war and stole her lump sum. For the first time she did more then pout about it. She sent her horseman to burn two of my cities. After this I resigned from my throne. I believe was playing as China, but it was a long time ago. I have stayed on Emperor or King. So yes it is an accomplishment to beat the game on that difficulty, because I was unable to.
