I dont know for sure but it must be the world builder. You can invoke it at any time with Cntrl-W. It kind of took the fun out of it for me. But is IS fun to stop the living daylights out of a horse archer with a calvary or marine!

It opens up the world builder. You can read the tip sometimes when the game loads a saved game.

Alright. Does anybody else here want to state the obvious, and answer for the sixth time that "it's the world builder?" More importantly, there's nothing wrong with opening it. Yes, it takes some time. Yes, it can give away information you'd rather not know about the enemy (if you bother looking around). No, it won't crash the game, eat your soup, or spend your credit cards into debt. You can just simply close it, and return to the main game.

Alt-W does nothing.

Just in case no one has heard yet , yep, says so right on the keymap that came with the Special Edition: "Access Worldbuilder" (=CTRL-W). All you folks don't have the fancy keymap foldout? Shame!
