Doomed Galactic Journey (Game Thread)

My dear lady of infinite mental abilities, you are quite right, that I my meager ressources hadn't allowed me to make the necessary deductions.

But why can't your haughtyness not come to my aid and fill in the need?

Being well aware of my insufficient intelligence, I merely stated the possibilities to warn. A lot of people seem to assume the first explanation that the secret voters are the killers without explanation and distrust anybody who is voted for.

I myself lean to te second one, because the voting is not consistent with the killing for me.

Ah, you have found the way to my heart, Kulko. Flattery will get you everywhere.

And I'm happy to say I agree with you. I think it at least as likely that the holders of the secret votes -- that means you, Diamondeye -- are innocent as otherwise. What have they done so far? Act in concert to put Diamondeye into power -- something an innocent might desire as much as a killer; protect Diamondeye -- again, more than understandable; and try to get an item to an android who turned out himself to be innocent.

Adds up to a whole lot of nothing, in my book.

That said, Vanguard, your insistence that quarantine can be useful in determining someone's guilt or innocence is suspect. For one thing none of us knows how many malefactors are on this ship, nor what abilities to do damage they may have. (OOC: Since I know NOTW XXIII was your first game of this type, I'll just point out that it's more typical for "wolves" to hold their most important abilities in common than otherwise.) For another, if this belief were to become widespread, it would be trivially easy to abuse, to cause the death of a quarantined innocent. What would you have concluded about Ronin if there had been no death, or no sabotage, last night? Quite likely the opposite of what you now believe, correct? And all it would have taken is for a killer to decide to sleep in.

(OOC: I am very well aware that wolves often "share" a kill/night - and I am not saying Ronin is 100% clean. I'm just saying I have more reason to believe in him than in many others).

"You are correct - if Ronin's quarantine had occured alongside a lack of kill or sabotage, I would have made the connection and vote to have him killed. Hypothetically, let's where that situation sends us; if I am right, we catch a killer. If I am wrong, we get to pick who dies instead of the killer. I see no downside there, I'm afraid. Unless ofcourse the killer can live without oxygene, in which case he will want to slow us down as much as possible..."

Vanguard falls silent, a thoughtful expression on his face. He mumbles to the cook: "Are you sleeping? Get me some grub, boy."

That's fair enough. It's not even about Ronin, what I wanted to point out; just I'm wary of the killer or killers being able to get us to do their dirty work for them.

Anyway, it's getting late in the day, and time's a wasting. I'm quite happy to ride the hell_hound bandwagon, for the reasons I stated the first day.

I will not stand up for hell hound.

Who is silent cannot make errors and is therefore harder to be detected as a "wolf". So I am always in favor of killing the silents.

Vanguard, if you didn't eat, it isn't my fault: The Sparkling cocktail is all gone and the omelete is done. There is half of the Joe-Kabobs with Spam on it left from Lunch and someone is munching on it now.

THE SILENT AID NO ONE.

hell hound will go to hell.

I am so witty!

"well, even I can not object to executing somebody who is in a catatonic state and does nothing but use up our oxygen" Dawn cannot believe she is doing this but she votes to have hell hound executed for the greater good.

Doomed Galactic Journey
Evening 3

The voting during day 3 wandered around a bit early on, but eventually, the majority of the votes eventually went against hell_hound, who had remained silent throughout the whole day. In fact, the vote was unanimous.

There was also growing concern over the lowering levels of oxygen. Despite the work of the enemy, it was obvious that there would not be enough oxygen for everyone to survive. The androids didn’t seem to worry as much as the humans, but everyone was concerned. Unlike days past, there were no votes to execute nobody, as the message of depleting oxygen supplies reached everyone.

Eventually it came time for execution, and the voting totals were revealed:

Full Results

hell_hound: 14 (Execution)
Abgar: 1

Again, the “3737” votes returned, breaking the unanimity of the vote. However, hell_hound would still be executed. Vanguard (Diamondeye) stepped forwards, stating that the position of ship commander gave him the use of a special pistol which previously belonged to Commander Splime. As he was during the day, hell_hound remained silent, slowly proceeding to the execution chamber. Vanguard raised the pistol, aimed for hell_hound, and shot. He fell quickly, and some of the scientists came over to inspect the body.

Spoiler :
hell_hound was innocent.

The scientists couldn’t find anything suspicious about him, and everyone had to retreat to their rooms for the night. Any items he carried will be voted on tomorrow. Then, the familiar screens came down again:

Distance to Nova Vlatixa: 235 Space Units
Distance from Vlatixan Empire: 215 Space Units
Current Velocity: 25 units per 12 hours towards Nova Vlatixa (approx. 4.5 days to go)
Oxygen Remaining: 64 12-hour units

Time was running out.

It is now night! Public Posting Prohibited! Morning will come in ~24 hours.

PS, Charles Li, clear out your PM storage space!

Oxygen's getting awfully low...

Uh, The13thRonin, you did notice that it's night now, right? ;)

OOC: Whoops sorry.

It seems like the update will be delayed a few hours, since I'll be out. Please avoid sending in new night orders, however.

Doomed Galactic Journey
Morning 3

The next morning, everyone gathered together for breakfast, waiting to see who wouldn’t show up this time. After waiting for half an hour, neither The13thRonin nor Nictel were at breakfast, so a search party went out. Along the way, they noticed that the Warp Drive Accelerator had been damaged further, but there were also signs that it had been repaired slightly. (OOC: No net change.)

First, they ran into Nictel’s body, which had been heavily bruised and beaten. He was lying in a pool of blood, with a dented tank of oxygen (enough for 1 person to last 48 hours). An inspection of the body found various tattoos, which the computer system then scanned. What it revealed was frightening:

Spoiler :
Nictel was a rebel!

Once everyone realized that one of them was finally dead, some cheering erupted. However, they realized that something else must have killed him, and it was unknown how friendly that killer may be. The search then went on towards The13thRonin, who was found in his room in a pile of destroyed android parts. However, a computer scan revealed that his computer log module was still intact, and the mainframe loaded this module. It revealed that The13thRonin had been attacked by a vicious virus, causing her self-destruct mechanism to prematurely initiate.

Further investigation revealed that The13thRonin had a device on him that generated a deadly laser, which was likely developed as a weapon. This fact, along with the mysterious module that supplemented his standard personality protocol, revealed more frightening information:

Spoiler :
The13thRonin was a rebel!

With this information, there was still work to be done. There may have still been killers on the loose, and there was still the issue of oxygen left. Right on cue, the familiar ship status screens came down:

Distance to Nova Vlatixa: 210 Space Units
Distance from Vlatixan Empire: 240 Space Units
Current Velocity: 25 units per 12 hours towards Nova Vlatixa (approx. 4.0 days to go)
Oxygen Remaining: 49 12-hour units

It is now (finally) day. (Sorry about a longer delay than expected.) Votes are expected on the following things:
- Execution/Quarantine
- The 48h Oxygen Tanks (Please cast 2 votes)
- The13thRonin’s Laser Weapon
- hell_hound’s case of clear liquid

Remember that you can vote for nobody to have the items, and eject them from the ship. Evening will come in about 52h.

Diamondeye is the only person I know of to have accused both Ronin and Nictel of wrongdoing. I think this should earn him one of the oxygen tanks. As for the rest?...

The scientist prods the wreckage of the android with her toe, and casts a meaningful glance at the Teacher's body as well.

One dead, one ... deactivated with extreme prejudice, shall we say, *and* yet another instance of sabotage? There are more malefactors on this ship than I'd thought.

Diamondeye and Renata can have the extra oxygen. I'll think more about other items later.

Ninja Edit: Also, I think this clears diamondeye of suspicions based on the mystery votes since the mystery votes were what tied up Ronin earlier.

I bet either the Counter Rebel Expert did his job... Some one who is a Counter Rebel that hid under another name, or just a computer jock playing hacking games.

Renata Should have the extra Oxygen. As for the Lazer, the cooking type? *Looks at the lazer and almosts shot it* I think we should give it to Me, or just lend it to me: I had a great idea for frying up some Teryaki. I don't know about the water but the boiled water I use is good enough.
