Doomed Galactic Journey (Game Thread)

"I guess I'll give the Vanguard the oxygen. We are probably in debt to him."

"And a clear liquid? I have no ideas. Never transported these kind of liquids. Perhaps a scientist should get it to investigate? Perhaps a Chemical Engineer could enlighten us... rhawn, would you care to take a look at it for us? "

I-a-gree-the-van-guard-should-re-ceive-the-ox-y-gen-tank-but-won-der-why-he-yes-ter-day-said-he-be-gan-to-be-lieve-in-the-ro-nin-per-haps-there-is-a-web-of-lies-the-ro-nin-spun-him-which-may-tell-us-who-the-oth-er-reb-els-are

I think Vanguard and Renata should get the oxygen tanks. Rhawn seems like the best person to examine the liquid. As for the laser, I think that we should have a scientist examine it, I nominate Lightfang.

Also, I am disturbed that the warp drive has been damaged again. And we still don't have enough oxygen for every to get to the colony.

Marius suddenly slaps himself hard on the forehead, as if he wasn't really paying attention to what was happening.

"Geez! Am I really thinking about this? I just realized that we haven't heard from Aanya in a while, so I'd like her to check in first to get the case! And I've got some second thoughts on the contents as well...

It's a case with something from a brewer in it. Perhaps with her vast knowledge of edible or drinkable substances, perhaps Charles Li could determine for us what's in it. Hell, maybe she'd even be able to brew us something, who knows!"

I'd be happy to run some tests on the liquid.

As for the Oxygen, Renata and Lightfang can keep them safe until we all need them. Lightfang should also inspect the laser.

Vanguard nods silently as the identities of The13thRonin and Nictel are revealed. "I guess my gut instinct isn't quite as bad as some of you thought it was. But I hold no grudges, I would not have expected to avoid votes against me entirely, that is the responsability a leader must face. Anyway, on to the items...

The oxygene? I can take one of them, and let Renata have the other...

The laser looks to be a dangerous weapon, and should be Thrown out the airlock, in my opinion. The more weapons we have onboard, the more deaths there will be. Everyone who wants us to arrive safe and sound should mirror that vote.

As for the liquid? Let Charles Li have a look at it, then. Just don't put it in my food."

Vanguard stops a second to take a deep breath before continuing:

"As to the accusations... Old Geezer, I'd like to know more about you - why are you onboard?"

That's a much better idea than letting the laser float around. We should throw it out the airlock.

Yeah. Until we know that one of the dead is the thief we've been looking for, we should throw 'em out.. We don't want them to end up in wrong hands.

At being called out again, the Old Geezer looks sharply at the Vanguard, and then abruptly stands up straight. Without his constant slouch, he can look eye-to-eye with any man on the crew.

"Why am I here, you ask? I don't have a good answer for you. I don't have any official mission, and I don't have any great specialty to contribute to the colony. I just wanted to see the galaxy before I'm too old to get around anymore, so I called in some old favors, and here I am.

"But don't pull any of that 'useless to the mission' crap on me, not when you're letting a mentally unstable person still hang around. It's that sort of back-asswards thinking in the Guard that I tried to reverse, back when I was in your shoes.

"Take a look at what happened when Ronin started drawing accusations. Eventually, I came down on his side, but that was just because he wasn't taking up our air, and those secret votes did made you look bad, Vanguard. But CCRunner tried to support Ronin, and voted the batteries to him as well. I think he's a rebel.

"Oh, and as to the items, I really think you should take the gun, Vanguard. I don't like the idea of anyone being immune from our oxygen troubles, though I won't vote to throw the tanks out the airlock, 'cause then they wouldn't help anyone."

"well apparently people can be killed without a gun. I am not quite sure what to do with it to tell you the truth. if I were to be on the receiving end of an attack I'd prefer to be shot by a gun rather than being bludgeoned to death I suppose. still, in the situation we find ourselves in it is a hard choice to leave a gun lying around. vent it I'd say but I am sure I'll live to regret it." How did people get these things on board Dawn wonders...

over hearing Dawn, the Astronomer wonder. "That's right! I know I was searched when I came aboard... why not these people!"

Yes, I admit, I tried supporting The13thRonin. However, PaulusIII did too. I'd like to let the public in on a few of my private thoughts.

For one thing, I was intending to lead a bandwagon against him today. The reason? At the begining of the game, The13thRonin contacted me to try bringing back the "dream team" in his words, the three of us from NotW (Me, Him, and Nictel). Now, I may be stupid since i let him live so long but I'm not so stupid as to not see through this. Bears a striking resemblance to my Divine Investigation idea doesn't it?

Anyway, after we "teamed up" we started to discuss who we would like to work more with. I suggested a player who is to remain unnamed. He suggested PaulusIII. I tried to discourage him from working with paulus on the grounds that he would probably be doing a similar thing with diamondeye (teaming up I mean). Ronin as you all know, was trying to have diamondeye lynched. I put into his mind the idea that working with somebody who is more loyal to somebody you are trying to get lynched is asking for disaster. And later on, despite Ronin agreeing to not contact PaulusIII, or anybody else, Paulus goes and tries supporting him same as I did. Odd given that they weren't working together don't you think? I certainly think it's odd. PaulusIII to die.

Please hear me out. If I am wrong, I will accept my fate. Well, I won't blame anyone who tries lynching me at least, I have no intention of voting against myself ;)

I will not support your accusation of the Commando CCRunner, Old Geezer, at least not on this count. It is true that CCRunner did back up Ronin's actions on the first day. But he soon thought better of things, and told me as much in private, supplying sufficient evidence of Ronin's lies and misdirection that if he were himself a Rebel, he would have to be crazier than Snerk to give me that much ammunition against his own confederate. And I don't believe the Commando is crazy.

I won't vouch for CCRunner any further than that. As I said earlier, it seems plain that there is more than one group of malefactors on this ship right now, albeit some of them may unintentionally have done us a favor last night. CCRunner may be among them. But with regards to Ronin and Nictel, I would be astonished to find that the Commando was any more than a temporarily useful tool.

"Interesting that you mention the Freighter Captain, Commando. When I was looking through that day's voting records, his sudden support of Ronin caught my eye as well. However, I notice that before he voted in favor of Ronin, he voted against him. It's odd behavior, but I don't think it makes him a rebel.

"Your comments on the Commando are interesting, Geologist, but I'm not going to change my vote unless we can come up with someone better. Our malefactors here may not all be working together, but those working with Ronin or Nictel should still be on top of our list. Charles Li, maybe?"

Morning all. I personally believe that Diamondeye and Renata deserve the tanks.

"I wish I weren't this bad at math" Dawn addresses The Astronomer. "How many people can we land assuming the current speed and, hopefully, no more unexpected deaths?" she tries to find the right words... "How many people, who have to breathe oxygen, would we have to be today, theoretically, so that all could make it?".

Reality is slowly starting to sink in but gods be damned euphemizing makes it a bit easier to accept. What is going to be the ultimate sacrifice we have to pay for venturing into the beyond? Will it be worth it? Will it be enough?

Despite the terror of the last few days Dawn chuckles at herself. Soon she'd be sitting down in a corner and writing poetry with a quill....
