I was shocked to see the save. Robin hood is no more. Will Scarlet is history, John Little is the only surviving general ... and we had a new general ... attached to an explorer??? Attaching it to anything else, an infantry, a redcoat, a gunship or an artillery is so much more useful.
And this naval defense? With out city devoid of land unit? Monty could have moves a ship in and London will be history.
While it is good to clear a path of our front yard, the cost is too high if it means killing 2 super generals. I don't know if we can hold the clear path since we can't build a fort
We are seriously better off transporting troops out through the channel if you asked me.
I cancelled the ICMB ( we have bombed quite a few, and how much of the AI's score is affected?) and switched to battleship because of the poor naval defense we have.
I also tried to build some artilleries and got them to Rome. Casualty will be too great if we attack without arty support.
I managed to raze one Rome city without arty support, but that city don't have much defender.
We should raze a few Rome, and hea don to eastward to raze Mansa and on to ALex and on to Monty. These are the score leaders. Ignore Toku and the other who has less score than us.
In the other news, we have another merchant joined:
This means we have +2 surplus food ... we need one more before we can let London grow (since growing 1 pop means 1 more unhealthy citizen which will take away one more food).
My suggestion on the way forward is to build tanks, gunships and some artilleries and race against the turn count-down. I don't know how effective ICMB is in reducing AI's score, doesn't seem to have a big effect from what I have seen. So if players think it will helps, be my guest and build+launch some. I wouldn't.

Icbm was not for reducing score . You bombard a city with ICBM half of the units in city die and rest get severely injured. Then you take out the city with commando tanks while commando explorer heals and gunships protect them.
Naval front use bombers + attacking with defenders .
In the screenshot posted fort option is available.
When we are sending an attacking stack of commando tanks to enemy territory a Medic 3 warlord of infantry might be selected as defender against attacks and get lost. However explorer will be the last defender so he is safe. Primary use of warlord is healing from medic3 not stack protection which is a risk .
Check this image where I nuked that roman city. See the number of units in that city and how much they were injured . I easily took over that city with commando Tanks
My plan is simple nuke a city , then easily take it out with commando tanks . As for the 2 warlords. They were not doing anything useful in the city. We has 100 turns left and some drastic decisions were required to stop losing to time. Their loss is not that big a problem as all they were doing in the city ws sitting on the stone hill .
Roster
1. druidravi
2. Greyfox (just played)
3. Ruff-hi (skip)
4. nengyvenketto (up)
5. sweetachon ( on skip till laptop trouble is solved)
I will not be able to get to this game until Monday next week. However, I do want to play one (or more) turns of nuke, kill, crush so pls don't finish it over the week end
I don't see the fort icon available. Is that a fort or a workshop icon?
Agreed on nuking before moving commandos in. far more efficient that way. But I still don't see why we need to clear our front lines when a simple transport ferry out would suffice. The enemy can't possibly fill every tile along that eastern channel with tons of troops every turn, deity or not.
It's just different styles of play. The fort icon is the one next to the cottage icon.
On land our units when given commando can move faster i.e. using enemy railroads ,and reinforcements can easily join the main stack. In naval there is a danger of a big stack of enemy navy suddenly appearing and wiping out our transports. Destroyers have a movement of 9 so we might not see them till too late.

Rome nuked and razed after
Antium also nuked, it had large amount of Cavalries and Cannons
They didn't killed just wounded and healed for several turns.
Cumae razed on the same turn
I used the hill W of ruins of Cumae to heal troops and upgrade Infs to MIs. Artilleries sent home as they just slow us down. Also moved more tanks to our SOD, we don't need them at home as we have MIs defending.
A suprise from MM: fighters! He destroyed Uranium mine previous turn, I just missed the screenshot. Added to it, global warming hit. Unfortunately, our second worked proved to be usefull to have
In the meantime, when I couldn't build ICBM, trained fighters to intercept future attacks.

We should prob save our nukes for targets that our bombers cannot get to. Use bombers to reduce cultural defense and then collateralize protecting units.
None of the cities bombed can be reached by the bombers. If it were stealth, maybe. (or if Pearl Harbor the movie were true, then we could strip the bombers off all unnecessary stuff and make it a one way trip to reach some roman cities ... too bad that is not an option in Civ4).
And no report whatsoever
For the lurkers:
1981: Antium (Rome) nuked and razed.
1982: Ravenna (Rome) and Tokyo nuked and razed.
1983: Kumbi Saleh (Mali) nuked and razed.
1985: Something nuked
1986: Fiber Optics researched
1987: Timbuktu (Mali) nuked and razed.
1987: Uranium mine destroyed by a malinese fighter (hasn't rebuilt yet)
London building The Internet (3 turns left)
60 turns to go.
I rebuilt the mines and delayed Internet once we have regained the ability to produce nukes.
And Tadmekka was the first of my victim:
After that, I got the chance to complete the Internet (while waiting for troops to heal, due to the massive collateral damage from arty and plane bombings).
Not as many techs as another SG I was in, but good enough. The crucial tech is biology which allows us to grow, and less susceptible to the bombings of our farms by the enemies.
And of-course the acquiring of the other 6 techs means our score should improve a bit, which is all that matters.
Gao is the next nuclear target:
And this coupled with our increase in score due to tech allows us to overtake Mansa. But only by a bit. I think not enough, so one more city has to be razed. Watala was selected.
In the other news, we got composites and a great scientists:
I upgraded 2 stealth and one jet. I also tried to produce modern armors (we have 2 now). I suggest we try to produce a few more MAs, then sneak them out by transport. Promote them all the way to commandoes and they should be able to join Little John's stack pretty fast. I lost a few tanks while attacking a new city established by Alex due to some bad RNG rolls so we can do well to have the reinforcement. Mansa shouldn't be able to recover in score, so it should be Alex's turn. I also suggest we concentrate on getting Future Techs (need genetics) after grabbing the Great Engineer from Fusion as that would allow us to grow ... and growing would increase our score.

Well done Fox. I have time to play a set on my flight next Mon night so if someone wants to grab the save pre-flight, then good as long as they post the updated save before I leave.
Man - I need a good talking to about SG etiquette. My flight to Korea was cancelled 2 hrs before I was heading to the airport. I only saw the cancellation email because I was checking on something else. I wouldn't have been happy to be checking my email on the flight and to find that one! I can play this one today.
