Blue Ether
Chieftain
I'm new to this forum but I've been fiddling with custom maps for a while. Here is my first map, a 36x22 (roughly duel-sized) earth map loaded with Civs. This is a Warlords map.
There are actually three versions of the map included:
1. 7 civilizations, fixed starting points
- Rome
- Egypt
- India
- China
- Mongolia
- Inca
- America
2. 4 civilizations. Mongolia is removed, and Inca and America are replaced with barbarian settlers.
3. 5 random civilizations at random points.
The shapes are fairly, though not precisely, accurate an resource locations are modeled after the real world. Some resources are added or removed for balance purposes. Room is obviously tight but there are actually a number of little nooks that can be settled. Nevertheless, war is inevitable and pretty much necessary. Cultural dominance is very important and the culture of others can often spoil your conquests so be careful and my advice for avoiding cultural messes is to look for capitulations instead of eliminations. The 4-civ version gives some good room for mid-game expansion. I haven't playtested the random starting point version.
Obviously this map isn't for everyone but if you're like me and prefer quicker games this can be a fun map.
That is all, hope you enjoy!
