Lo,

I have bought the game last saturday (5th november), just that I have found out it is DVD-ROM instead of common CD-ROM.
After going back to retailer, he explained to me there is only DVD version available overhere.
Since it was saturday, all stores with tech equipment were closed and I have waitied till monday (yesterday) to go and buy myself DVD unit (which I did btw - it is NEC DVD-RW 4550 ).
Eagerly I went installing the game when I my problems started.
DVD couldn't read several files from Asset directory (for instance stonhenge.bik) as they were corupted.
No I really don't know what could be the issue - MY new DVDplayer or DVDrom (civIV)
any suggestions?

regards,
I.

Yea several:

1. Copy the complete contens of the DVD to your HDD and run the install from there

If the copy process does NOT work then you have a dodgy DVD meaning you need to return it to your retailer

2. If you have Anti-Virus software active or even Firewalls deactivate them during the install process. Both these types of apps have been known to cause problems during installation procedures.

Thx Eerazor.

Ok, after I have upgradedm Win2000 to SP4 + all other windows patches, DVD started to work as it should.
I have succesfully installed the game only so that I have found other prblems with the game.

During L.Nimoy's intro of earth creation, when the program is initializing, the game freezes, until autosave is compleded. The problem is that not all the slides are shown (world creation) and that I don't click "done" for game to start, becasue it starts on itself after the freeze period is over.( at least the game starts)

NExt: after I have build my first unit - warrior ( I don't know if it happenes with other units) and I click "What is the big picture", the game stops responding alltogether :/.

Patiently waiting for patch .
