What are the keys to an early conquest? I tried a few as the Aztecs and can't seem to get it done until around 2000 BC.

What are the keys to breaking 3000 BC?

On a tiny map what age, temperature, etc. do you play?

Do you just get lucky and have the other civs settle close by?

Do you attack with 1 unit or a stack?

Do you use the worker, or join him to the city for an immediate pop of size 2?

Thanks in advance. :D

I have never done an early Conquest, but I think the key is to started on a small land mass with mininum # of AIs. Then pumping out as many JWarriors as possible. At the beginning, the AIs are just too busy exploring the land and usually leave their cities undefended. Even though they may have a SOD somewhere, they would be dead before they have a chance to retaliate.

I'm planning to write an article about this..

Well, Breaking 3000BC .. or even 3500BC does take luck, that's 4 sure.

There is a simple method I implemented on tiny (3 lower difficulties), and after a few hundred tries, you will get the luck u need:

Shortly (I want to leave something for the article):
1. u MUST start in a place where there are building terrain -
this means a city of 2 may build a jaguar warrior in 2 turns.
2. build your city at 4000BC, and the worker u have will NOT
work, but will join the city to b a size 2.

Then, produce JAGs every 2 turns -
the first would come at 3900BC, the second 3800BC, and so on..

With luck (a lot), you will quickly find the 2 cities to take over.
With all due respect to the JAGs weknesses, ATTACK!!
If the attack fails, you may need to start a new game.
If the enemy is far, you may have to start a new game.
Almost in every scenario, you may have to start a new game.

But, if you find these cities fast enough, the game is over, and u've won.
Also, I don't stack them but rather depend on luck.
And, for maximizing score, I go for 100% lux - no money or science.

In the coming days, my name will appear in the HoF for tiny on all 3 lower difficulty levels, with victory by conquest at 3650BC.
You don't know how much time I spent to get the right game...

Have fun!
It's a rullette game.

The only question that bothers me is that when I find a nice starting location, and my enemies are near...
When luck betrays me, can I go back to 4000BC when I know where the enemy's starting locations are? (for the HoF)

Currently, I don't.
I start a new game, although this is depressing, just to find the perfect game for the HoF..

Thanks for the response. I am doing many of the things you mention. Sounds like a great article you are working on. After some thought & experimentation I was following a strategy of building in 4000 and join the worker to immediately boost production. I don't see how you could win by 3300 BC any other way. In one game I had an unbelievable 3 cow start, but the AI was too far away from me for a HOF score. It seems I just need more attempts to get the lucky cow start with AI nearby. Many times I explore and miss the AIborder by the slimest margin. Like you, I don't research & save $ for the lux tax. What's the point of research if you want to win by 3000 bc. This is a nice fun diversion from the huge Emporer milk I'm working on.

Do you go for an arid (dry) old land mass so the jags can move more quickly? (fewer hills, forest etc. to slow them down)

Moonsinger I'm hoping you hit 60k on Diety soon. Have you played an agricultural civ on 3c3 yet?

No, reloading is only allowed for domination limit avoidance (only really applicable to milk games) and program crashes.

Handy, I do go for an arid (dry) world, also cold (fewer good spots for all, I can find the AI in the middle).
Old world also, because of terrain..

Y are you looking for cows only?
I settle for even 2 nearby forests - unless u plan reaching 3500BC, then u grow with 2 cows...

Superslug, thnx for the info.... 2 bad.

Thanks boogaboo.

This is really where the luck comes in I think. I'm a classic no reload player. Couple of my games with good starts I couldn't find the AI fast enough. Bad guesses on location.

This is a fun way to play when you only have a few minutes. I may have to postpone completion of my emporer huge milk game as the turns are taking way too long on my 1.0 pentium. Good excuse to upgrade my home PC. :) Perhaps I'll post a save later and an expert can tell me if I'll crack the HOF based on current score & number of turns left. I've never tried milking before so I'm not sure how many more points I can get between mid 1800's & 2050. I'm already at my limit for tiles and have about 80% of the world's population.

You may want to check out SirPleb's Score/Data Calculator. It's designed to work in most internet browsers, and is extremely handy. The projection may not be entirely accurate depending on where you are in your game, but it'll give you a good idea as far as target range.

Thanks very much for the tip!
