Hello all,

I'm a long time Civ player and Civ 4 player especially. I recently stumbled over Rise of Mankind and I must say that what I've played so far has been a blast (after lowering my graphics to medium to get it to run 15 minutes without crashing  ).

But anyway, I'm trying to create a custom game with an "Earth like" feel to it. I don't want a carbon copy of our current planet but I want the general "feel" of it. A couple large landmasses, separated by large oceans, etc.

But every time I try to make such a map, I invariably biff to, especially in regards to tundra which seems to make up like 50-75% of the map :/

Anyway, what settings would be able to get me an Earth like feel? Thanks in advance!

The three types of maps which do what you want are the ROM_Continents mapscript (which makes two continents, seperated by an ocean, both continents containing major civs), ROM_Terra mapscript (which makes two continents, seperated by an ocean, with only one continent containing major civs, and the other one will only have civs made from barbarian cities (If the barbarian city mod component is turned on)), and ROM_Earth2 mapscript (which makes a map of the Earth, but twisted and tweaked a little so you don't know EXACTLY what you are getting. Sometimes north and south america are not connected, sometimes you can go from Spain/Portugal to North Africa via a land bridge, sometimes Africa is completely cut off from Asia/Europe, and once I had the entire group of islands of Indonesia become a solid land mass, with many penensulas. You could *walk* from China to Australia!!)

Pick one of those. You shouldn't get tundra starts if you choose temperate or tropical (or arid) starts, but there is a tiny chance that you will. If that is the case, export furs and deer :P (And silver, which apparently only is made on Tundra and Ice, or so I have heard)

I know what you search for, i did it myself long time.

The best script so far is PerfectWorld2 (included in RoM).

It creates fantastic realistic continents and also simulates climate zones, with hotter zones in the middle and colder to the poles.

But you should play around with the settings, also it`s a good thing to mod it a little by your self, which is really easy!

just open the file RoM_perfectworld2.py (download and install python if you can`t) and the file will be opened like a textfile, with a long list of every variable that changes something in the game and also an explanation for each one on what it does and what numbers to set for it and so on.

I did this because i felt the maps to be alittle too much forest and sometimes also too large deserts in the middle..

Good luck!
