Not sure if this is the right place to post this...

How can I play on any earth map (whether it's the normal 18 civs one or one with an enlarged europe etc) with 18 civs (though ideally i'd like more) but be able to select the civilizations myself? I can't find out how to do this and i'd like to because i want to play with a really cramped europe and more civs in asia with none in america or africa (colonies.)

Is there a way to get the earth map up on the custom game map options? Or is there some other way to do this?

Thanks.

EDIT:

oh and also is there a way to select or change the start date on a custom map or the kind of map i described above? i'm not too fussed about this i was just wondering.

Welcome to the posting side :)

you could use the tectonics map script that comes with BtS (and is downloadable here) and use the randomized actual earth option.

Thanks. Is there a way of getting an exact earth with customisable civs though and not a randomised one? i'd really like to play an earth map and be able to choose civs so i can play with just a congested europe and asia and empty africa, new world, australia etc.

you'd likely need to either look for a map like this in the creation and customization subsection or take an earth map and make a scenario for this or change the civilizations in an existing one (which is not difficult since the scenario files can be edited in any text editor). However the randomized earth option I noted above does produce an actual earth map with randomized resources and starting locations so you should give it a try :)

the randomised resources earth would be fine but i've tried it twice now and it keeps producing a earthlike map that isn't earth at all. i think the option i chose was called actual earth randomised or something.
