One thing i am annoyed with is the no-thought that went into earth maps, and i shouldn't have to download a mod to have a playable earth map. that said, i have tried to create earth map scenarios and i have this same recurring problem:

the limit of distance between cities causes a lot of 4-city europe and 4-city america. Hopefully g+k can address this to add the feel of a historical game back to the series. Hopefully a scenario or earth map is included that allows civ's to have more than 2 cities in "correct" locations.

Especially with all the new civ's, the "whole earth" is the scenario most needing to be made.

You can download Gidemon Giant Earth Map and modify the map in editor. I did that by adding natural wonders, add lakes& mountains to where I felt was accurate, and change city starting positions to fit real life. I have fun editing and playing it. This map is really really big and cities have 2 spaces minimum between them, so there can be a lot of cities for 1 country, even the Europe area.

i get it but i want it in the normal game, not me having to do all this extra work.

my comp just doesn't grant me big maps, large is pushing 3 min turns in the late game... i just want the earth maps to be repackaged in a way that represents the planet we live on.

there are some good earth maps out there - i am just saying the "content" needs to be good in the game itself and not just in a mod.

This sounds like a first-world problem. Trolling, are we? ;)

But anyways, I do understand what you're saying. The larger maps just don't work well with my computer, and I wish they would include a decent Earth map like they did with CIV.

I agree we need a good, large Earth map with properly placed civs/resources but I also think cities get placed way too close to each other as it is now. I personally mod my game to make min city distance 4 and play on large worlds. The problem with this is, there is no map large enough to simulate Europe.

IMO (I'm sure I'll be flamed for this) Civ needs to drop the whole box/hex map idea completely for Civ 6 and have maps and movements more like the Total War games. benefits would include: much nicer looking maps and small islands not limited by boxes/hexes, units not limited by the same, (a unit could be 10% faster for example, rather then having to gain 1 extra move which is really an enormous upgrade) Arty/bombers/ships could have realistic bombard ranges. etc, etc.
