So I discovered we can't play custom maps over internet multiplayer? "F THAT!" I said, and began searching...
After trying to learn how to write a script to call a map to somehow get it into the list, I discovered that 1 file in the map folder that was called for internet games was not a script, but a map file, so I figure, lets just rename my custom map to that name, and voila!
So anyway, here's how you do it:
copy your map file to the map folder located here: E:\steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\Maps (or wherever you have steam installed)
Rename M_AncientLake.Civ5Map to M_AncientLake.Civ5MapBackup or something, and rename your custom map to M_AncientLake.Civ5Map. It will now show up in the list of maps when hosting, under it's original name, not Ancient Lakes!
NOTE: Each player wishing to join the game must follow these steps.
