Correct me if I am wrong. I have new findings, naturally from a user/gamer point of view (NOT from developer's).

For all my previous efforts playing the game, I was rushing towards end-game hoping to see the results, be it out of curiosity or insanely addicted to it, well never mind. So I set the game speed to Online. As you may have seen in one of my threads, I posted some success story mainly on Science Victory. After a few victory, I was beginning to get the feel of victories which is of course, very thrilled. Then I was curious again, to know how the game works if the game speed is not Online. So I decided to venture the Standard speed's version.

Ive got new findings. The game behaviour is different. The AI is more aggressive even on Prince. I don't know how many players out there micro-manage the citizens. During early game, somehow, it is necessary to override the governor's "Auto Mode" and you have to intervene so as to obtain an "optimised" result.

On KING difficulty, I never got Estatic citizen happiness. Now I set it to Prince, and I have 3 out of 4 cities doing pretty well.

I also want/wish in future patches, we can be given an AI engine which improves PRINCE difficulties. Also, is it necessary to have higher difficulties like KING, EMPEROR, ...etc? If higher difficulties above PRINCE increase the difficulties by giving AI extra warrior, settler and more resources rather than raising the intelligence of the AI; then forget or remove these difficulty levels please. And put your effort into raising the AI's strategies instead. From a gamer point of view, I would rather want to see advanced combat technique comparable to human behaviour. Also, the ability to actual explore the map rather than cheat through knowing where there is a natural wonder or more favourable landscape. I think the dev knows what I like to have, I just want to share my views and wishes given the current state of the game engine.

Increasing difficulty by adding warriors, settlers or builders or increasing AI bonuses is a few minutes work. Improving the AI is weeks if not months or years work. I agree with you that they should improve AI, most certainly in the case of Civ 6 where it's positively stupid. Also, the AI doesn't cheat with surroundings, or it'd be much better at finding and taking tribal villages.

Oh, and if you want to win, this isn't Civ 5, I'd like to advice you to build more than 4 cities.

I've only recently learnt that having excess amenities gives bonus city yields (except food)... Took me around 300 hours to work that out.

As I said in another thread, the AI is more aggressive because of the unit movement / production ratio. In stardard speed, they meet you before you're able to build a decent army because of lower production speed. Note that game speed affects you and the AI, but on higher difficulties they start better than you.

About amenities, it may be counter-intuitive, but you may get Ecstatic level by expanding more. Each city will take more amenities from the pool, but your pool may get larger: you'll have more access to luxuries and your Entertainment districts reach more cities. But generally, if your cities are just a mix of Happy and Content you'll be good.

It also increases growth, which is excess food (if you have enough housing and amenities). So it's kinda food-ish, somewhat like fast-food.
