For changes made in the editor that you want to use in a game, such as upping the optimum number of cities or making a building reduce corruption, must this be saved to an individual scenario map or can it be done to apply generally to all new games without having to go back to the editor?

I like to edit my games so my thinking is that with this new editor problem, I am pretty much screwed from editing and then being able to play a game? Every time I go to the editor and tried and then went to play on that saved map I get version 3.00 problem. Is this a safe assumption? Is there a simple fix or I am on hold till Firaxis figures this out? Thank you.

First of all, the file that's used for generated games is the civ3mod.bic file. Any changes you make there will apply to any new games you start. Be sure to back up the original before you make changes. It can become corrupted this way.

Secondaly, the wrong editor was sent out with the patch. Any changes you make will mean that the game won't work. You'll have download the proper editor, which is around here somewhere.

It should be noted that we highly advise against modifying civ3mod.bic, and future updates will incorporate the BIC file within ALL savegames, eliminating the ability to affect savegames by modifying the civ3mod.bic file.

There is some evidence to suggest that changing the civ3mod.bic and then loading savegames to attempt to change the rules of an existing game causes a lot of problems, including crashing the game, and it makes cheating in competition-style games like the GOTM far too trivial.

Yes, I can confirm that.:(

I was wondering Dan, If I save my mod as something other than civ3mod.bic, will it also save the pediaicons.txt changes etc, if I pass it along to someone else, or will I have to bundle those along seperately?
