eldar02: Mayan Madness!

From experience, the UU isn't much good with Barb-hunting. In COTM07, I got 2 or 3 slaves, all from enemy units. The last game I played, I built only 1 Javelin Thrower and got no slaves.

From the looks of it, I rolled a no-Barbs map anyway!

Pre-turn
move citizen away from whale in CI to delay growth by 1 turn, that should set up the settler-warrior factory when the curragh is done
the worker mining will be done in 3 turns, just in time for growth

enter

IT
Copan warrior -> rax

1. 2110BC
Greek hoplite strolls along to say hi, they have IW and CB , we are up masonry, trade masonry, 35g and 1gpt for IW
there is iron S of Copan and next settler will rush there
worker NW CI irrigates

IT
CI curragh -> warrior

2. 2070BC
exploring

IT
worker finishes mine in interturn
CI warrior -> settler

2. 2030BC
re-assign citizen in CI to irrigated plain

3. 1990BC
spot light blue border E

4. 1950BC
meet Americans and they have beautiful lands, they are up wheel and CB as everyone else is
lux up to 20% for CI
re-assign citizen to irrigated plains, settler due next turn
send 1 worker to Copan to road towards iron site, other worker to road SE

IT
CI settler -> warrior

5. 1910BC
re-assign citizen to whale
lux back to 10%
settler-warrior pair go to iron site
Inca and Hittites have math now

IT
CI warrior -> settler

6. 1870BC
nothing

7. 1830BC
Rome has writing now, our chances for philo are receding
Amis and Iroquois have math and are broke, must have bought from Inca as they have lots of money
wait for next turn with trades as we will get 5g back then

IT
Palenque worker -> curragh (can be vetoed)

9. 1790BC
lux to 20%
Cannot buy either writing or math :( , so wait with trading

IT
CI settler -> warrior

10. 1750BC
lux to 10%
Palenque worker to road/irrigate towards CI
leave settler/warrior in CI unmoved
I suggest to go either to silk at American border or south to the mountain and river

The other settler is ready to settle down next turn
America has a worker for sale, maybe worth to try and get it, would cost us 40g + 4gpt

The settler factory works a charm (great maths, eldar :goodjob: ) but needs some TLC. One citicen needs re-assigning every 2 turns (at growth) from the mined plain to the whale or irrigated plain.

dont see any save for me to get, sry for my quietness, been working like a dog here!

Check out this thread:

To test it, start the third intro conquest "locked alliances", and activate the king unit.

Just thought I should let you all see this in case you missed it. :)

Oooops. Yeah, it helps when the save is actually attached. Sorry. :blush:

Thanks for the tip Zakharov, I tried it and it is rather funny. :lol:

Had a look.
Lux can go down to 0% for 1 turn, and whenever CI is at Size 4.
Make the Silks site near New York a priority for settling. Settle the other side of the river to get the Iron? Here's a map of the local area, with potential settling spots:

Just out of interest, in another game, I just had a JT that created a slave and a leader in one attack. I'd call that very useful :D :goodjob:

First off, I meant COTM04, not 7 (it would've been interesting to have Austrian Javelin Throwers, I guess...?!)

As for your outrageous luck... well, my previous game as the Mayans I got an early SGL. Guess what I built with it (after becoming a Republic and getting a few more cities, mind...).

I agree with Eldars settling spots apart the silk one.
I'd prefer to settle on top of the silks. That will give us space for one more city between the silk city and CI.
The site near the gold mountain between NY and Cuzco could become a worker farm. It will have fresh water for better growth and with a granary could be quite good at churning out workers (provided we can get the spot). WE NEED WORKERS.

I wouldn't settle on the silks - it's going to overlap with Washington a bit too soon for my liking.

Neil. :cool:

It's been over 48 hours since the save was posted. Are you going to pick this up eldar?

I think niveclogh is busy producing copious amounts of writing for a college report. Ah, those were the days :lol:

Yes, you are right of course. I didn't look properly.
But I would prefer 1 SW of the silk instead your proposed 1W.

Edit:
Ohh yes, we should try to buy writing.
If we can get it soon we still have a good shot at philosophy as the AI does not like to research it. :)

go ahead and pick it up, my comp died to top it all off, i'll b ready again when my new dell arrives

Is anyone going to play the next set of turns?

niveclough has computer problems at the moment. So it should move on to Eldar then I'll pick it up next.

Yep, I'd have played tonight but work intervened (yes, from 9pm 'til half past eleven...)

Neil. :cool:

It has been over 5 days since the last post. There is obviously little interest in this SG, which is not surprising considering the surrounding terrain. I am therefore officially dropping this so that I can concentrate on other things.

As I'm off on holiday for a week and given the lack of participation (mainly my fault, sorry) I think it best to wrap it up - unless there are serious objections?

Neil. :cool:

No objection considering the start and participation.
Maybe we play together again some other time.
Take care.
