eldar05: Gone But Not Forgotten

take it... I couldn't play tonight.

Please anyone play it :D I think I should've done another 10-20 with this start just to check it was viable. Me bad :(

Allright, your on. I´ve had itchy fingers all week to try this. Had a similar start lately, ended up with 20 cities in 1000BC.

I'll have time this week-end, sorry I haven't had before, 3 exams in 4 days ...

Just finished my last midterm then played, sorry for the confussion but I expected at least 24 to play.

Save

Founded a city taking one of the dyes, couldn't settle on the dyes because I would be in Germany's 20 square radius, founded on the grass sw of the dyes.

Currently mining the third cow for +5 food and 6shields at size 3, we need two non bg to be mined next for the 4th and 5th citizens or 1 bg mined and one non bg left alone for the 4th and 5th citizens for the 4 turn settler factory.

Build a bowman to look better in the eyes of the AI so there will be less likely of an attack.

Our warrior in the south broke a barb camp on turn 9, that is why it is redlined.

We have room in the east and west for more cities, next should go east.

Since AI is so close, we'll need to fight our way out. Settle just 1 or 2 more cities, baracks everywhere and just bowmen after that.
Got it, play tomorrow

Settled 2 more cities am building couple of workers and barracks. Got writing on last turn but ai's got it 2 turns earlier. Set science to literature as that wil most likely get us a monopoly. Can change it though. As we'll need a war to claim more terrain I'm not in a hurry to get republic. We could settle 1 more city north of babylon, but that won't be very productive.

Akkad & Ellipi can't be left undefended for too long once the AI run out of expansion room, they'll be looking at us to further their empire. South does look to be a good direction to go. I think that we should trade Lit to our neighbors to get one of them to build the GL for us. :devil:

Concur on southwards expansion and lit. More workers from Babylon perhaps ? Like in 4-5 more?

OK, I think I'm up next. Got it.

So the plan is to go for Lit and start stockpiling bowmen for future expansion. And squeeze in a couple more workers if practical. Anything else? Doesn't look like there's anything left worth trying to settle.

It's looking pretty boxed in now. Nobody has Phil? Risk Phil and get something useful for free?

Well, I don't usually play deity, so I have no idea whether getting Phil is a possibility. So I'd be sort of inclined to play it safe and go for Lit. But if you guys think it's a worthwhile gamble, we can go for Phil.

It's cheaper than Literature. That's pretty much what it has going for it. It's also that much cheaper than Map Making that we might have a chance of grabbing it before the AIs finish that.

We don´t have a lot of roads yet, but philo might be wurth a shot. If we get it we´ll have a couple of monopolies, philo, the free tech, then we should still be able to get lit first.

Yup, philo sounds reasonable atm, since we've got to at least try something in that kind of situation. Playing jackass also has the fun element to it, so way to go big boy !

Pre-flight: Change research to Philosophy, as discussed. No guts, no glory, I guess. It's due in 15.

1 - 2110 BC Ellipi warrior->worker

2 - 2070 BC Ashur worker->barracks

IT - Smoke-Jaguar wants 24 gold (not even a quarter of our treasury). That's an easy decision. I cave.

3 - 2030 BC :sleep:

4 - 1990 BC Babylon barracks->bowman (though for some reason the governor suggested a spearman instead :crazyeye: ).

5 - 1950 BC

IT - Ragnar comes by with his hand out, wanting 23 gold. Which I give him, of course.

6 - 1910 BC Ellipi worker->barracks

7 - 1870 BC :sleep:

8 - 1830 BC Babylon bowman->bowman

Babylon and Nineveh are both threatening to riot, so I'm forced to raise luxuries for a turn (the dyes will be hooked up next turn).

9 - 1790 BC Nineveh bowman->bowman. Akkad warrior->barracks.

Dyes hooked up, so lux back down to zero.

10 - 1750 BC

We receive word that Seoul has built The Oracle.

Notes:

No new screenshot since not much has changed.

Philosophy is due in 3. Nobody else has it yet (or any other new techs on my turns), so we might actually get away with it.

Bowmen are just starting to come in. We're still at least a turnset or two away from having enough to think about going on the offensive.

Roster check:

eldar - on deck
Tubby Rower

nerovats
Minute Man - just played
Beorn-eL-Feared - up!

Ok, will try not to carry this one over in never-never land. If I don't post a summary by wed night consider me totally idiot. Or well, put whichever adjective there that worsens my status in your view.
