Elite (6/6) Ancient Cavalry?!?

I've found their fort-building useful if there is a powerful civ next to me across an isthmus. Plant stacks of crusaders there and let them build their little forts (without wasting my workers' time) to keep the enemy out until I have cavalry and can go pound on them. Then the crusaders are used as the first defenders in the cities I take until I can get infantry.

As others have said, that extra hp is amazing. I've killed off 1hp mechs with 6/6 ACs, because the 6hps allows for 6 tries. AC are one of the few units that is usable throughout the entire game (even if only marginally useful in the Modern Era).

crusaders doesnt have extra hp...
last i remembered..

they just have GOOD attack and build forts... which i FIND LITTLE use for.

I agree that after a certain time, keeping crusaders around isnt a good idea, however, when crusaders are first introduced, they will be extremely effective

I think AC are overpowered by the HP bonus, but hey, shouldn't the be? They're being built by a civilization who diserves it. Granted, if they were a normal unit, they would be far too powerful. But you have to milk a core city for many a turn to recieve them, and that sort of commitment deserves a decent reward.

Other that having created a leader, are Elite* units special?

No. But the * indicates you, that they won't create another leader, unless you upgrade the unit.

Last night messing around with different civs I started a game as Iroquois,
standard size world on continents :scan: . There were FIVE Ivorys in the
initial city 'square' :crazyeye:  . I played some turns and the gold
output was grand! :D . Not even considering the monopoly which would mean
Ancient Cav for me only at my own leisure ;) . Spain and Portugal were my
only neighbors on the continent :mischief: . What goooood luck. :)
