Embassies? and Irrigation??

Hi! How and where do you establish an embassy after the initial opportunity when you discover writing??

Irrigation: In the tutorial you can irrigate when near a small lake - the little blue dot (not a visible large body of water), but when you play a regualr game, this ability is gone??? FEATURE???

On the embassy question, double-click on the star to the right of your capital's name on the map screen.

On the irrigation, I'm not sure. I've had no problems irrigating where I needed to.

Thanks for the quick answers! Also does it mention anywhere how to Bombard with the catapult/artillery?? I figured it out (hit the "B" key) But i wanted to know. BUT It doesnt mention it anywhere in the manual or the Civlopedia. Oversight???

Yes, it shows it in the manual. You'll notice a little icon near the bottom of the screen above the others. This is the bombard icon.

Irrigation - I can pretty much guarantee that your problem is you're trying to irrigate from salt water. Inland lakes and rivers allow irrigation always. After electricity you will magically be able to irrigate anywhere.

I know I cant irrigate from salt water. but during the tutorial I was able to irrigate from these tiny little lakes in the game - the little blue dots. ( do you know which ones I'm talking about?) Well it doesnt let me irrigate from them in the game. I'm going to guess thats the way they wanted it and its just messed up in the tutorial? Has anyone else had this occur to them??
