Epic Game "Play by cloud" won't work

I just got civ 6 on Epic Games. A friend and I tried the "Play by Cloud" option but it would not work. We could get to the "confirm settings" but after we click on that it crashes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The devs purposefully turned Play by Cloud off since the DLC Update/Free Epic Games seemed to have caused some back-end issues or something; it had been off for at least a week or so - but my PBC lobbies just reappeared. Try using Play by Cloud again and see if it works now!

We've brought everything but the public lobby browser back online, so you should be good to go with your current games, and starting new games with friends, etc.

That is (was great).
Some friends and I started a game.
We got 10+ turns in but yesterday we found that we had all re spawned with just a warrior and settler.
Did the host hit restart or is this a glitch with the server.
