Erebras' Cut&Paste Project (WH40K)

This is a modification of the German Flamethrower unit found in the World War II folder in the Extras folder in . Instead of fire, the trooper's weapon fires a heavy blast of energy, perhaps a Plasma Gun or Meltagun or something similar. This took longer than usual, and I'm quite happy with the results.

Hmm, with that trenchcoat I would see him as more of a Death Korps or Steel Legion soldier. But then again he doesn't have the protective mask those two armies wear and the Valhallans wear long coats as well, so I guess this can really be a multi-purpose Guardsman.

This is a modified attack sequence for the German Anti-tank unit found in the World War II folder in the Extras folder in . I was (pardon the pun) shooting for a lascannon, but Imperial Guard lascannons are two-man teams. I'm sure an enterprising modder will figure out what to do with him.

This is the Inquisitor unit from , but instead of a red-hot poker, he wields an Imperial chainsword. There are two attack sequences: an initial attack where the warrior-priest whirls 360 degrees, and then the more normal thrusting attack. The Twirl flc can also double as a Victory, since this rar contains Default, Fortify, and the two attacks.

It was labor intensive, but I'm very pleased how the twirl attack turned out. I intend to use the same technique on a couple of Eldar units.

Ever since I saw the Throne of Judgement on the Games Workshop website last year, I've been wanting to do this, but I knew if wouldn't be easy to do. Originally, I was gonna use the Tomb Swarm's torso on a quad multimelta, but I've considered this overkill.

The vehicle is a recolorized Razorback or Rhino that muffins had made; the Undead Banner aaglo created. The pipes and fleur de lis were added by me. The (awesome) artillery attack are SAM missiles from , and also from are the fireworks victory sequence and tactical nuke explosion death sequence.

It took me not nearly as long as I thought it would. I intend to reconfigure the chassis into an Immolator, the Battle Sisters' flamethrower tank. (UPDATE: See post #29 for the Immolator.)

I used the rhino chassis muffins created, a banner created by aaglo, and a fire spell effect by kinboat. The turret is a modification of the Light Tank found in the WWII in the Pacific conquest, and the flamethrower attack is from the German Flamethrower in the Extras folder in .

Thanks for the compliments. It makes the effort even more worthwhile. LMR said he may have a use for these for his mod. I hope so, since there can't be too much of a need elsewhere for armored vehicles with French fleur-de-lis on the sidehatches.

It appears the penitent engine is mainly for sisters of battle who have fallen from grace, but I saw one model with a male pilot, so I thought, "Let me see what I can do." This cut-and-paste unit nearly didn't make the cut, and it has PLACEHOLDER written all over it. Simply put, it's the Ancient Army from attached to a grayscaled mech chassis (Ripptide's Hollander at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=190097&highlight=hollander) with its shoulder cannon removed.

The attack sequence is the torso rotating to-and-fro while the banner-carrying pilot waves his hand in a taunting, threatening manner. It is appropriate motion for a flamethrower, but after the immolator, inquisitor, jokaero weaponsmith, and so forth, I'm a bit burned out, pun intended. But I'd be willing to add fire if requested.

The unit is full-color and civ-color, and is a standard unit, not an Army, despite the source material. If someone has a use for an angry Moses-cyborg for their mod, then this could be just the thing you're looking for (but I doubt it).

Well, Commodore, I well see your point, but when you come right down to it, my aim is to not so much recreate actual WH40K units -- though I would love to be able to do something like that from scratch -- as to modify nice-looking units from, say, a standard historical game or scenario, to adapt it so that they don't look out of place in a WH40K mod. I know they aren't perfect fits, but I don't think they need to be. You can get the gist or spirit of what Games Workshop was inspired by, and then roll with it.

Take that chaos space marine spawn, for example. No two spawn are alike, but they look like they have in common a vaguely spherical shape, and the outlandish appearance of a beholder walking around on two legs lends itself so well at illustrating the corrupting influence of the Warp.

I'm responding and reacting to your post. I didn't take your comment as offensive criticism, at all, but I took the opportunity to share what's going on in my mind.

I absolutely love the work you are doing and I was just sharing my thoughts on what I might use the unit for in my own 40k mod that I'm working on. That Necron Monolith you made was a huge lifesaver for my mod by the way.

This unit is derived from Tom's unit conversion of the Barsoomian white ape (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=15242). I removed one of the right arms and recolored it shades of pink (they appear brownish in the jpeg, but rest assured, it's a pink horror, not a brown horror). I added a flame attack, appropriately enough.

I know Pink Horrors aren't monkeys, but I really love the locomotion of the Barsoomian white ape. You won't be disappointed.

The death sequence turned out pretty cool. A puff of fiery smoke -- thanks to a fire spell effect by kinboat -- and then two smaller blue horrors take off into the distance. It took a day longer than I'd like, but it was worth the effort.

Two things, though. The size of this unit is too big, so I'll need to resize it, but more importantly, I think pink horrors come in packs, so I'll make it a multiunit, of two, because I think three 'horrors will be overkill. Once the multiunit is completed [UPDATE: see post #42 for the multiunit], this unit could become a Herald of Tzeentch, if desired, though it appears that is a unit from the medieval Warhammer not WH40K, but it's not like Chaos would be consistent and predictable or anything. UPDATE: I fear resizing may lose some detail, especially with the death sequence, turning the two recognizable blue horrors into two blobs of blue rolling away from the pink horror's fiery exit. Just post a desire for a smaller size multiunit and I'll proceed, otherwise it's done for now.

while ı am not familiar with the genres ı would say there is always place for a bunch of King Kongs in other places if resizing is automatic . ı say this because ı once had an attempt at erasing the tail markings of some Phantom to have a more generic unit and all ı can say it can be tedious if one lacks the drive .

I attempted to make a grid of color like an area effect attack, but it looked extremely cartooney, so I abandoned the idea. This unit currently has no attack -- it doesn't have much at all except its looks, if that, kind of like the Kardashians, except the obelisk serves a purpose -- but if someone were to need an attack, I'd probably cut-and-paste aaglo's spell effect that has a light beam from on high, since the tractor-beam-force-field thing didn't work out.

The obelisk has only three effects: constant motionless nondynamic Obelisk, a glow effect where the civ-colored lights grow and fade in intensity, and a flicker effect which is nothing more than a fast-paced sequence of the glow effect.

Nice to see that unit being put to use, especially because, all deference to Tom's conversion, it doesn't look anything like a Barsoomian white ape, which should be an enormous grey-white four armed gorilla like one of these big fellas:

This is a resized Shoota Kan by Great Apple (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=95487) merged with the backpack-thingy of aaglo's Bigmek (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=253505&highlight=ork), which has little to do with "two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun."

This is just the Default to whet the appetite of those interested. There's more to do.

Yeah, Balthasar, I get it. Disney's John Carter did a pretty good job of portraying the alien beast. (This is a negative-image version of Supa's(?) Great Kong with an extra set of arms and Cleopatr -- er, I mean, Dejah Thoris -- standing nearby.)
