Error message with new mod

I just finished the first version my first scenario (so I'm a bit of a newbie at this). When I go to start it under Scenarios in Civ III, I get an error message that says:

"Civilization3 has caused an error in CIVILIZATION3.EXE. Civilization3 will now close."

1.) I think I recall reading somewhere in the discussion forums that when you change the name of a unit, you have to change the unit's .ini files. Is this true, and if so, would this be causing the above error message to come up? Also, if true, that would mean anyone else who wanted to use the mod would also have to change the files in question as well, correct?

2.) I also changed the names of a number of advances, a few terrains, resources, improvements, all the governments and all of the civilizations. Would any other files have to be altered for these as well?

3.) Could there be another reason why the error message is coming up, something I'm completely missing?

Just so you know (in case it matters), I have not added or deleted any units, though I have made some unavailable to any civ (sort of cut them out of the loop). Also, I did not use the Civ3 Editor Hack or any of the other available utilities.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

To rename a unit you need to also rename the folder and the ini file inside the folder.

Not too sure about renaming advances though, never tried that one

Renaming government should be alright. But if you rename Civ then you might need to adjust all those entries in the civilopedia file and also the pediaicon file. These files sit in the text folder. :king:

Okay, I changed the names for the unit folders and ini files, and it works. However, I noticed a couple of things:

1.) It seems to take a little longer than usual to for the computer to process a turn.

2.) On the domestic advisor screen, when I try to adjust the luxury/research rates, it automatically resets to the maximum science rating each turn. I have to manually readjust the ratings each turn, which is very annoying.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks for any help.
