Escape From Zombie Island 2 ready for public consumption

Got another

The Reactor Room
A panoply of different coloured lights greeted the group of survivors as they entered the Control Room.

"Right Dave, get this thing up and running and we'll have enough juice to power the entire island."

Dave whose only qualification for this job was his o-level in Physics, stepped forward. Boris another member of the survivor's group had a degree in nuclear physics but as it was from a Russian university he was passed over in favour of Dave. Boris had stayed behind to sulk.

Dave scanned the control panel looking for inspiration. His eyes rested on one red button that was slightly bigger than the other buttons surrounding it. The peeling label under the button read "SYSTEM REBOOT". "Aha", exclaimed Dave triumphantly.

Dave pressed the button.....

All the lights in the room flickered and a low humming noise began.

Suddenly a warning light began flashing. It was a red light, not a good sign. There wasn't enough time to be worried by this, however, because it was quickly followed by a voice. The monosyllabic nature of the voice was reassuring in a way but the message it was carrying wasn't.

"Warning core temperature rising".

"Sh*t Dave, do something".

The voice changed in tone and message: "Warning core reaching critical temperature".

"DAVE" someone shouted.

Dave broke down. "Look, I only managed a B in Physics and only because I wrote all the formulae down on my arm".

"Sh*t, Sh*t" came the voice of their leader. "Let's get out of here now!"

Ah, the phone one was classic...I am tempted to try that next time. Scream and raghhhhhh...and brainzzzz...haha

Well, it seem the bat attack any faction we are playing, while I was authorities it keep attacking me at radio station. but somehow it shift attention now. hmmmm.

Police Chief.

"RIngRIngRing" The phone at the police station ring piercing the dark silence of the night.

"911 Emergency Response. May I help you? Or Perhaps direct you to company's call center at 1-800-***-****" Rookie #1 Picks up the phone and answer wearily

"Get your ass over here right now" A hoarse vocie yell at the other end of the phone. The Rookie jump from his comfortable swivel chair at the sound of the police chief. "errr... yes sir"

"And get Sgt. Decker to clean up this mess. I am trapped in my apartment, have a team come and pick me up, so I can run this lousy excuse of a police force. And Shut anyone whimper up, they are bad for moral. Oh and barricade the entrence PLEASE?"

"err...Yes Sir..Right away sir"

Roadkill

Betsy and Rabbit and Loony and Squirl are good friends, they often walk and jump around in the park and on the roadside to play tag.
But today seems different, today the cloud is dark and sound of weird gunfire and scream can be heard. Today citzens of paradise city are nuts. Today...Betsy's thought was interruptted by Loony who keep chasing Betsy in their game of tag. Betsy stop and ask Loony "Don't you think today's weird?" Loony, look around and said, "Not really" Just then they hear an sound of an rev up engine and turn their head to see an bright orange car coming their way....too fast....the black tire was all they see before the invitable squash our poor duo.

Hours latter....in the dawn of morning...several short brown skin Hispanic workers form zeb came across what was remain of Betsy and Loony, and in excitment, they pick them up and bring them home for the tasty rabbit and squirll pie they will have.

fe3333au...you can run the preacher to the East Building and the Rushmobile just up to him, then the next move load and bring him back. The Bat will not attack either that way but will instead attack to the South.
I am not in favor of swapping the Retirement Home because that location is better for the Graveyard Swarms for the Zombies. I am in favor of both the Zombies and the other Factions having better Defense. Kink Arthur and I both have made unit sheets and we are analyzing all units and factions now.

Good point about the Farmers having Contact with the Zombies. This could be corrected by placing a Zombie near the Farmers for contact. The only problem there would be that IF a Human plays as the farmers, they will have immediate contact with the Zombies as well.

As for the Bats, yes there are two types but I do agree that Factions do need to have some ability to contend with the Bat Bombers. King Arthur is correct in saying that because the Church is connected, the Zombies will be able to build Bats in other cities. Good Reason to gain the Church as soon as possible eh? :)

Great...many more Entries and from you too King Arthur :goodjob:

All is going well and we are on the way. This next Game Test will be more complete and you Testers will not have so many updates. At least that is the plan.
There are many ways to accomplish things in the game and we all have our preferences and strategies. Because many things are not discovered, this can lead to opinions and strong suggestions that if implemented, would change the game from what King Arthur and I intend. Example: It is actually too easy to save Reverend Simmons IF you discover how. IF Not, you would say, Change him so he can have a chance to survive. Many things in the game may seem that way but King Arthur and I are Not setting up a Game that you cannot Win, no matter what Faction you want to play. That said, it is suppose to be difficult to varying degrees, depending on the level played so it remains Challenging and Fun. A win will be that much sweeter when accomplished.

Hehe, in Australia, we have a lot of companies using Indian call centres, and you cant understand anything when they ring up (im not being racist, its just damn hard :P)

anyway, once my bro answered the phone, heard it was one of them, and said, "can you hold on for a second... GET BACK IN THAT KITCHEN B!TCH!"

the caller promptly hung up...

Zombie Goo

George peered out of the second story window. On the street below was a small pack of zombies, staggering along the road in almost comedic fashion. Suddenly, one of them stopped, and charged head first into a group of garbage cans. They clattered noisily, but when the zombie pulled itself to its feet, George could see a small pile of a glowing, green substance next to the building.

The zombie grabbed a handful and promptly shoved it into its mouth. Suddenly, it let out a groan, and George took a step back as the zombie clutched its chest. Then it screamed and began to grow. George watched in fascinated horror as the zombie quickly increased to twice its size, its decaying muscles becoming huge and pulsating.

George slowly backed away from the window towards the door. He needed to warn the others about this... this...zombie goo...

Re. Rev. Simmons
I totally understand what you are saying Vuldacon regarding different opinions and strategies ... however my point regarding the good preacher is that how many would think of using the rush mobile to save this unique unit in the first move in the game turn???

If he remains where he is, then I would think that 98% of the games played will be without this unique unit ... and it would be a waste of ALL the time and effort you put into creation and tweeking the graphics, animation and sound.

In earlier versions i really liked the fact that he was being chased and had to find sactuary ... it was left upto the player whether or not to send units to assist him or not ... currently (and this is the fault I'm addressing) there is ONLY one method to save him.

Church Dilemma
WOW and I dilemma it is ... on one hand having a road is beneficial as it allows the church to grow and produce a variety of units. It also allows Bats to be produced by all zombie buildings that are linked to the resource. But then again if it is too easy for the human factions to take then there will be NO Bats in the game.
Question ... if the connecting road were to be cut would the Zombies repair the road by the time that the Species Jump technology allowed the production of the Bat unit?

I really like the bombard of the Bats it is an element that can frustrate (in a positive manner) the plans of the human factions ... how to allow this to stay?
:hmm: can there be a weaker Bat that can be produced in all buildings? After all Bats can be found in virtually all environments and are considered a pest (like rats) ... so perhaps the resource in the church can allow the super bat with the deadlier stats and if the Church is taken, then at least the Zombies will have access to an air unit.

New shield value for Clearance Sale
... this went really well
... I only had poor Natasha holding off the horde for the last 8 turns because the civilians with her were all eaten :( ... and let me tell you, it was a big relief when it was completed :)
At one stage I was even questioning my decision to NOT build Fortifications in my other buildings.
... Well Done for adding excitement to the game

Unit Animation Query

I just noticed that when the upgraded Rev. Simmons is fortified that he takes one step and then stands in the en garde' position.

In the eastern facing aspect he seems a bit off centre.

Worker Action ... Pedia Entry ... I notice that there is no mention of the construction of Barricades (which is the upgrade of Fortresses)

Also Old War Vet icon in the production choices in the build screen is the older WWI version of unit ... when actually chosen it appears as the correct current Civil War version.
This WWI icon is also present in the Military Advisor screen ... same for Abe Peters

Question about errecting Fortresses does anone else think 1 turn is too quick for an Engineer to erect one ???

Naming ... (can we think of another name to replace Fortress ???)
What about this ...
Fortess is changed to Barricade
Barricade is changed to Road Block

Interesting, when upgraded Vuldacon ;) attacked the Fast Food Joint the list of targets does not include the Sated Alpha

Balloon ... the icon is not centred once it has been chosen to be produced in building ... EDIT also in the main unit box when it is awaiting orders.
... All I see is the tether lines and basket, all you need to do is ease off on the blower controls buddy

Contentious issue of Flagging units ... while I can see (somewhat) reasons for having a flag on certain unique units ... basically to keep them alive until the movie ends ... BUT ... I think that Champions should have it removed ... after all what sort of hero lets an engineer get attacked while they are present ??? :p

Game report ... Survivors 6am Day 6 ... Oh the Horror !!! I see my first Monster Zombie, have taken Church ... all factions seem active.

Balloon Bombard ... why is it that once a bombing run has happened that the balloon is still awaiting additional move orders?

Dog Resource ... just wondering is it singular or is there another supply? ... if not, then perhaps is there was another near the Dog Pound then other factions could trade for it.

For the Church Dilema:

How about:
1. Giving all Bastions the "allows air trade". Alternatively, give ALL civs access to Sewers, or the equivalent.
2. Allowing an improvement that requires the "bats" resource that also allows air trade
3. Re-forresting up the road

Re. the Old War Vet - the units32 hasn't been updated yet. Do you prefer the Rifleman to the Infantry?

1 turn is possibly too short but I wouldn't make it too long - say 5 turns max.

The new units that have been added won't have been updated in the stealth targets list hence Master Vuldacon can't choose to high kick them.

Good point about unit flagging.

Balloon possibly has more than 1 move so can bomb as many times as it has moves left - I'll need to check that that's the case - it might be an unbalancer.

There's only one resource of Dogs. Trade might not be a bad idea as all factions can build units with them.

I'd not be in favour of that. Best to balance the bats so that they are too overpowered. I think all in all connecting the church up is a good thing.

fe3333au... Perhaps Bat Bombers can be placed in the Airport :) The Church will be strengthened as will all Zombie Cities.
Reverend Simmons will be moved and as for using the Rushmobile to Rescue him, that was something possible and players would all have eventually discovered it. Cannot have things Both ways, we either set up a difficult situation where the Reverend would be Killed most of the Time or saved most of the time. This is all a matter of what one discovers. There have been changes that have affected the Reverend and they will be addressed. Since the Church now has a Road, the Rushmobile can get to the Reverend and save him the First Move. That will be changed. As for his Stance and centering, The stance was how the Unit was made...this is the Conquest Game Unit...Inquisitor. You are seeing an Optical Illusion from the Stance he was given.

Barricades are Not "Building Improvements"...Fortifications (Walls) are. You will find barricades in "Game Concepts" in the Civilopedia.

Balloon...The Game uses a frame from the animation for the image you see in the Build and Unit Windows. If a Unit is Tall and or at an elevated height, it is always Cut Off..nothing can be done about that unless I make the Balloon Fly at Ground Level. The Balloon has more than one Move is the Reason it waits for orders after a Bombing Run.

Old War Vet and Abe Peters...Both are fine in my game concern images. Not sure what you are seeing but it does not matter because those Units are being Changed.

Both Building Roads and Fortresses are fast for Engineers and we might change this..although when you get this next update you might change your mind, depending on what is done :)

There is only one Dog Resource at the Dog Pound. This is the Significance of Owning it :) Perhaps we should place two or three Dog Resources in and around the Dog Pound and allow it to be traded?

I like the Civil War unit as a place holder ... but let's hpe we don't have to wait too long for the pj'ed oldman to be created by Sword_Of_Geddon. :D

Have you PMed him??

Yes 5 is too long for Engineer, maybe 2 or 3 at most?

Game Mechanics question ... is pollution only created by cities, or can dead bodies appear in random locations? If random, might be nice to have pollution set on max ... give something for the handymen and engies to do ;)

Engineer ... No Death animation !!!

I agree that this is important... the bat is the most frustrating zombie unit of all, and it keeps the late game as the Survivors interesting by destroying my Barricades, Sewer Access Points etc. Without the bats, by late game I'm pretty well dug in and even Monster Zombies have trouble overwhelming a barricaded and well-defended building.

I have sent Sword_Of_Geddon an E-Mail and plan to be in touch with him as he works on the new unit.
King Arthur and I were going to place the Rifleman in as a substitute since most do not like the "Kit" look of the Infantry unit for this position. Perhaps we will have the new unit soon and will not need to resort to the Rifleman.

No Death for the engineer...I will need to look into this situation.

Pollution is Generated by the Cities but I too am in favor of More Dead Bodies around the map.

Concerning both the Dogs and the Bats...I am in favor of adding more Dog Resources inside and another outside the Dog Pound in order that the Owner be able to trade the Dog Resources because Other Factions can Use them for sure and Only One Faction can Own the Dog Pound. The Bats should have another Resource placed but in a City such as the Airport or perhaps a city we Cut Off from the Others so the Zombies can have bats but Not all of their Cities able to Build them.

If you want the Balloon to be able to move after a bombard ... what if it is made like an artillery unit ... or is that impossible due to it being an air unit?
