So, last night i played a normal size random map on quick speed, was just going to have fun with a fast culture win since i didn't have all that much time. The Random map selected ended up being a pangea with me in the center as the only non-coastal civ.

Around turn 50 England declare war with me, and pretty kept up a steady stream of units heading in my direction for the remainder of the game. I was locking in a constant war with England for ~250 turns where i would be killing 1-2 units per turn and not get anywhere. They did offer me peace once in a while, but only if i was willing to part with at least a city and everything in my coffers.

Is this a feature of quick-speed? I normally play on epic speed, where the AI will rush you, but when you beat down 1-2 waves of units, he'll offer you peace. It wasn't until modern age with multiple rank 4+ Artillery units and fighter support that I could even get close to any of his cities.

Not compleatly sure of this I never play hotseat and only SP to try out new builds (what to do the first 50 turns or so), but...

From my not so wast SP experience. I usually play on immortal when trying out builds. Sometimes I try diety. Problem with immortal is that it s way easier then the average opponent I face when playing MP. Problem with diety is thate when, thought (in duel) over time it is easier then the good MP plyers, it force you to play in a different way then when playing a real human since it spams so many troops early thus forcing you to build more army the first 30 turns then when playing a human...

when playing immortal the AI allways in duel declare war on me turn 30 ish then ask for peace offering me huge amount of gold about 20 turn later. the reason is I think, that the AI compare strength and I guess aswell units killed. Turn 30 the AI is stillin points and army stronger then me when playing immortal duel while turn 50 I have allready passed it in allmost every aspect (except happines and GPT) and aswell killed a bunch of units...

and that is quick speed. So i d say the reason that the AI never asked u for peace without you parting with gold and a city is that it was stronger. More army, more cities higher producction etc. if you r weaker then the AI they ccan still make a good peace deal I guess but then it wpnt be enugh just killing some units. u ll have to advance on it...

On quick they are building units much faster and the time for those units to get from their cities to yours is much more significant. Even though you kill a unit or two each turn they've got quite a few in transit and freshly produced each turn so their army is still quite large. On epic speed the time for their units to get from their cities to yours is relatively insignificant compared to the time to produce them so there isn't a large backlog of units heading your way at any time. As a result when you kill a wave of units you've actually cut down a large part of the AIs standing army so it perceives a power swing and is accepts peace.

It's not that there's an AI difference, but the effectively slower movement on quicker speeds means that the same basic circumstance looks very different to the AI. It sounds like you may already know this but the way to get a stubborn AI to accept peace is to threaten their cities. Even if you don't have a realistic chance of making a serious offensive push a modest strike force of units can attack or even just threaten one of his cities a little and dramatically change the way the AI perceives the situation.
