So, last night i played a normal size random map on quick speed, was just going to have fun with a fast culture win since i didn't have all that much time. The Random map selected ended up being a pangea with me in the center as the only non-coastal civ.
Around turn 50 England declare war with me, and pretty kept up a steady stream of units heading in my direction for the remainder of the game. I was locking in a constant war with England for ~250 turns where i would be killing 1-2 units per turn and not get anywhere. They did offer me peace once in a while, but only if i was willing to part with at least a city and everything in my coffers.
Is this a feature of quick-speed? I normally play on epic speed, where the AI will rush you, but when you beat down 1-2 waves of units, he'll offer you peace. It wasn't until modern age with multiple rank 4+ Artillery units and fighter support that I could even get close to any of his cities.
