Very near the beginning of this session, Manchuria declared war on the Ottoman Empire. This was to be a short-lived war, but before it ended, when Jem I Osmanli died, Bohemian started the Bohemian Crusade against the Ottomans. Austria joined the war on the Ottoman side (was this due to having warned the Bohemians?), and together, they proved the superior force, although Bohemia did occupy Vienna for a short time on a stolen march. Austria took one province, their first Bohemian province, and the Ottomans took two, eliminating the Bohemian border with the Ottomans and thus the threat of a repeat war.
Yet before this war had ended, Britain had begun a war for Castille's colonies in New England. Though the objectives were straightforward enough, this rapidly devolved into a messy, multi-theater war. Spain, Portugal, and Foix, at least, joined the Castillian side. At one point all of northeast North America was occupied by Castille & Co., then England took it all back, and several provinces switched hands more than once afterwards. There were also battles in inland Spanish North America, and Spain even landed 20,000 men in Cornwall, where England's home regiments and Norman troops teamed up to defeat them. In the end, after a long war, Britain achieved their objectives, with the small caveat that Austria claimed Abnaki in a time when its colony had been razed.
Austria had a long war of their own, as Bavaria started an excommunication war for Switzerland in which Austria sided with the Swiss. Bavaria's army was strong, and Austria relied on scorched earth tactics to help turn the tide. Even so, in the end, the Swiss paid minor reparations, and Austria and Bavaria made white peace.
The Ottomans had the quietest session of the human players, with expansion focused heavily on Rajputana, who is now down to two provinces. The conquest of those provinces will create a purely Ottoman corridor to India. A second Manchurian war broke out late in the session, but once more, the Ottomans had little trouble dispatching the few troops that were sent and occupying a few provinces, forcing a concession of defeat. Nevertheless, the Manchurians have put themselves on the Ottoman radar as an annoyance.
Burgundy had a quiet session, although they racked up a lot of war weariness by marching 50,000 guys to Cape Town from France (35,000 of them are now marching back and are around Mozambique - the rest appear to have returned by sea). Their Ottoman allies and on occasion Austria helped quash the resultant rebels, but in general, Burgundy is in the same position as last session.
Mazovia also had a quiet session, but just in the past few months decided to make it more interesting by declaring war on Novgorod. So far, no provinces have changed hands, so it's impossible to tell who is winning or if it is a dead even war.
And that is how we come to this date of May 29, 1621.
