EU3 Multiplayer

I actually converted what we have so far to Vicky 2 for an experiment... The Ottomans are #1, and the Austrians are #4, but all the other GPs and SPs are German minors. Britain is #43, with Burgundy following close behind at #46. Mazovia is in the 50s.

The test results show that because no nation has industrial score, the only things determining ranking are military power and prestige. Britain is actually #3 militarily, but has no prestige.

Interesting... I thought you got industry based on manufactories? I've got at least twenty manufactories, so I would've expected that to transfer into some Vicky 2 industry. I'm surprised the German minors do so well, though. They can't have hardly any military power.

German food is quite tasty; I recommend it, at least if you like meat, potatoes, and sauerkraut. The write-up will be coming shortly...

This session featured the end of Holy Wars, and was the end of an era.

Great Britain found itself in a poor situation, with no navy, which had either been disbanded by the AI, or possibly defeated by Portugal. Smartly cutting their losses, Britain ceded a bit of land to Castille in South America, a bit to France on the Continent, and a bit of vassal land to Ming in China. A period of stabilization followed, but Britain did manage to establish new colonies in Australia, henceforth known as Oz. Britain also repurchased Madras from the Ottomans, on the condition that the subjects be more free than they had been previously. This facilitated their subsequent colonization.

Austria was in a better position. After buying Britain's Chinese province, they declared a crusade against China, annexing a fair chunk of territory. Along with Manchu's big bite out of Ming, this accounts for a drastic reduction in the Ming dynasty's power. Austria has since been at peace, and has begun paying attention to the neglected backwater of their empire - Italy.

The Ottomans attempted to make the most of the last Holy Wars, with mixed success. Hindustan was fully annexed, completing a long ambition. Auvergne itself was annexed in a defensive Holy War, forcing them to exile in their colonies. Three Moroccan provinces were also taken, connecting Algerian land. However, attempts to take Sardinia and Corsica failed. The Ottomans lacked sufficient boats to successfully land on Sardinia, and after harassment by Sardinia's ally Portugal, including a seized colony, conceded defeat. Corsica was eventually taken, but the Ottomans forgot it was part of the HRE, and lost it to a Formal Request. Having already suffered -6 stability in the session due to events, the Ottomans did not consider Corsica worth yet another stab hit. After the conclusion of the Corsican war, the Ottomans spent the remainder of the session improving stability, both through actual stability investments, and, primarily, through reduced war weariness. By the end of the session, the Ottoman Empire was once more fairly stable.

The Osmanli dynasty also ended this session, after the last heir died tragically. The Dulkadiroglu dynasty now rules the Ottoman Empire, under Isa I.

Mazovia annexed the Teutonic Order this session, but otherwise was quiet. They were at war with Austria for a short time, fighting over Sweden, but there did not appear to be much fighting, and a white peace was signed. The face of Mazovia's rivals is changing, however. Novgorod continues in free-fall, and Ryazan is emerging as the fresh Russian power. In addition to Ryazan taking a few provinces, the Oirat Horde gobbled up several Novgorodian provinces, and the Golden Horde broke free and took once province apiece from Novgorod and the Ottomans.

Burgundy had a quiet session. With some Austrian and Ottoman help, they overcame their rebel troubles. Although still in a time of troubles, they no longer have war exhaustion issues, and their only territorial loss was Finnmark to a newly independent Norway. They indeed did focus on internal issues, and are much better off than in 1644. Burgundy did, however, change their government from a Feudal Monarchy to an Absolute Monarchy.

In other world news, Songhai annexed Kanem Bornlu this session, and Huron continues to be quite prestigious, currently #3 in the world and only narrowly edged out by Austria and Alsace.

What will the future hold? We shall find out!

Attention Players: My IP has changed. It is now 216.26.111.162. On the plus side, the save transfer should now (theoretically) work.

Also, a heads-up, I won't be able to play in the session after this Sunday's - that is, January 20th. But I plan on being there this week.

With the end of Holy Wars, expansion has become more modest. Bohemia is still involved with plenty of conflicts, but even that may be waning, thanks to the recent election of Burgundy as Holy Roman Emperor.

Austria had a relatively peaceful session. They were involved in several small-scale wars, annexing Switzerland and taking a couple provinces from Wu. They also fought Bohemia, taking two provinces, one of which they had a core on. Two Austrian moves this session may have greater ramifications in the future. The first is the Gryf Proclamation of 1673, proclaiming that Austria shall take any attack on an East Asian nation as an attack on itself. The second is Austria's repeated spying upon the Ottoman Empire. Now internationally known, the long-terms effects, if any, are uncertain, but it has raised suspicions of the Austrians in the Ottoman Empire.

Burgundy attempted to reclaim Normandy from Great Britain, but was unable to gain the upper hand on the seas, and ultimately settled for a White Peace. Still, Burgundy did expand her colonial holdings this session, notably in New Zealand, and also gained the Emperorship. Thus, the session was a mixed bag territorially for the Burgundians under their AI leadership. On the bright side, Burgundy continued to expand her lead among major powers in the tech race.

Great Britain took part in the aforementioned war with Burgundy, as well as another inconclusive one with Portugal. Their rebuilt navy proved by and large competent in these wars. It was their vassal Champa, however, who gained provinces at the expense of others, when a considerable number of Japanese provinces revolted to them, in part due to religious differences.

Mazovia was the victim of Bohemian aggression from the start - as soon as Mazovia disbanded apparently surplus regiments, Bohemia declared war. Although Austrian intervention ensured a stalemate in the first war, in the second Bohemian-Mazovian war of the session, Bohemia wrested four provinces from now-AI-led Mazovia. Mazovia was able to take some solace in the form of Russian provinces in a later war with Ryazan and their allies.

The Ottoman Empire spent a good part of this session rebuilding and recovering from the last Holy Wars, but by the end of this session was firing on all cylinders once again. Their expansion slowed considerably in no small part because of this rebuilding. Nevertheless, they did annex their vassal Yemen this session after more than a century of vassalage, and established several new colonies as well. The Ottomans celebrated the construction of two major construction projects this turn - the Imperial Road from Alexandria to Carthage, and the Taj Mahal in Agra.

In China, the Qing dynasty broke free from the Ming dynasty and now controls nearly all the Ming lands. They are approximately as powerful as the Aisin Gioro family to the north in Manchuria, and the two fought a bitter war this session, resulting in high war weariness but no gains for either side.

What will come in the late 1600s? Will Burgundy and Britain continue to spar? Will Austrian spying be a precursor to war, or a blip on the map of history? Will China become unified, or will it remain split among two near-equal powers? Find out more next time in EU3 Multiplayer.

Are we having a session this week? Quint and I (and probably Billy) will be gone, and two people isn't enough.

There goes our last potential host. We now have three options:

1: Go through the horrors of trying to make someone else the host
2: Wait for Quint
3: Quit

Remember that I am the only one who can actually post on this thread, as Billy is too lazy to get out of his Steam game, and Turq can't bear to have a four-digit post count. I'll have to be the go-between for you two.

Sorry, I was unable to make it on Sunday. I think I'll be able to make it next Sunday (about 80% chance), although it does depend somewhat on the weather forecasts. Travel plans and such - they're somewhat dependent on when there's lots of snow/freezing rain.

I'm still pretty touch-and-go in general, with lots of travel these days. At some point that will stabilize - hopefully before Turq's 1000th post.

I just noticed your sig, did you get the idea from me? :p

Haha, yes. Just some friendly rivalry, since I happened to also have a highly-viewed story. I added it about two weeks ago.

Things are still mostly looking good for this week, although due to social engagements, I may have to leave early or may be somewhat late. I'll update this post when I know more.

Turq PM'd me saying that he'll be here late, and we should check around 3 and 4 for him.

Likewise.

I'm not going to be here. Sorry :(

:( Thanks for the heads-up.

The lobby will be up in a few minutes at 216.26.111.162. This is the same as last time, but different than the one listed in the first post.

Hey, I just alt-tabbed back in, and saw Pessimist and Billy played until April 16? I thought we were stopping when METY left on January 2nd so I'd been alt-tabbed way and AFK. I don't think we should really count what happened when both Britain and I were helpless and doing nothing in our wars?
