Since the 50's or 60's I think I'm not sure but they are a nuclear power.

France has had nukes for a long time. They used to have a tank mod that had a huge nuke missile launcher on it..tactical nuke, that is.

Nice scenario.

The following changes might be useful:
- Hamburg (Germany) should have a harbour - in real life it is Germany's most important overseas trade hub
- The Swiss should have no uranium (Swiss nukes?!?!?)
- Russia should not be so powerful. Without oil, no country to its west has the slightest chance against a massive invasion with Mod. Armor and Mech. Inf. when oil imports fail. Most probably Russia is not able to launch such large-scale conventional attacks on Europe at the moment.
- At least Great Britain should have a strategic oil reserve (North Sea oil)
- To come back to the question of French nukes: they have them since the 1960s. At the moment, France has a number of nuclear submarines with SLBMs.

I disagree. Russia is Europe's military and political behemoth. No single country to the west would have a chance against a massive Russian invasion...no government at least...with the possible exception of the UK. Nato and the USA prevent this being a possibility...and the USA, of course, is not on the map! :)

kuff-dam, just glancing at the map, I noticed that both World War II Victor and the UN are Wonders, but you have given them to several cities. AFAIK, you can only do this with Small wonders. I'm guessing that, when the game starts, only one civ will have these wonders...

We'll see about Russia...Iran just declared war on them. Glad I'm a continent away from Iran...

My point about Russia is not a purely military one. It is also about economics. In real life Russia's GNP is only one fifth to one eighth compared to those of western European countries like France, the UK, Germany or Italy. Russia would be able to start a large-scale offensive, but not to bring it to a successful end. At the moment western Europe concentrated its economic potential on armament, Russia would be doomed to fail in a conventional war. Russia is a military, but not a political or even economic behemoth.

Just wanted to add to the politcal/economic perspective that the whole mess in Chechnya sheds no positive light on Russia's capabilities either.

Granted, but the mess in Iraq and in Afganistan says the same of the worlds most powerfull Nation's capabilities.
In both cases those nations are not using their full might.
Both are still Behemoths.

OK, but in contrast to Russia the US has an immense economic potential to mobilize in case of an acute crisis while Russia is is more or less exhausted, even if its military capabilities are still substantial.

You cannot take away latvia I give the country credit it has more gnp per caita than russia

Absolutely right, Latvia's GNP per capita is nearly twice as high as Russia's.
Russia's overall GNP is, however, ten times higher than that of Lithunia, Latvia and Estonia taken together.... in the end, statistics just tell you what you want them to...

Bright day
Good scenario! I greatly enjoyed crushing Hungarians and Austrians:D ! But somethink that interested me in that one game. There are currently three nuclear power plants in area of Czecho-Slovakia (2CZ;1SK) yet in scenario Czechs start withou knowledge of Nuclear Power. Also 3 out of 4 cities are seriously starving!! Least complain is an currently abandoned uranium mine Czech Republic that would, if need arose, be opened for sure. Nayway GOOD JOB!!
May all your days be bright.

Nice scenario ...

But , there are some things you can work on ...

1)Get Kharkiv some squares down ... it gives a bad image in the map ...
2)(Greece)Naxos and Patra should be one square left (or rename Naxos to Samos and Patra to Corinth . Corfu is an island , and you better change it with Ioannina ...Add more wines near Crete and Patra ...
3) You can just rename British to United Kingdom , instead of naming each city [England],[Scotland]et.c.
4)Leader names , Prime Ministe Kostas Karamanlis for Greece , President Putin not Pesident , and ...Big Boss Kuchma !lol
5)Haifa , not Hafia ...
And ...6) As long as settlers are not disabled change the city names list
because an Ukrainian Tenochtitlan is not realistic at all ...

Anyway , nice job , keep up !:goodjob:

I got the scenario going but couldn't disable the culture victory. I went ahead and played as France but lost after only 50 turns or so. I had just smacked the Benelux but Russia got a culture victory around the beginning of 2006. Do you know if it's possible to disable the culture victory in the editor because you can't do it from the start.
Anyway it's a very nice scenario and I'm going to play it again if I can disable the culture victory. Good job.
