I've played several demo games of Civ 5 (on Steam), mainly because I don't want to pay for it until Nov. 1 for budgetary reasons. However, playing these demo games has revealed a couple of bugs I'd like to discuss. I'm a Civ veteran, having played a lot of Civ 1 and some Civ 2 and 3, and a lot of Civ 4.
The first bug is rather minor but annoying: Civ is supposed to let you know if a unit does not have orders by activating it. However, I find the game frequently does not do this. The work around is to go into the units list, scroll through the list and click on the ones with a green light (and a blank status). It reduces the playability of the game.
The second bug was encountered in one of the games, where the AI seemed to go into an infinite loop. I had to stop the program from the task manager. Fortunately I had recently done a save. I restarted from my save, played pretty much the same moves, and the same problem happened! This bug is very serious, and made it so I could not continue the game.
I was wondering if anyone has noticed these bugs, and if there are patches for them. At this point I'm not too impressed with this version of the game.
