I have started using the Custom leader Option where the leader is not connected to a specific Nation.

In addition to this I have been adding the 'randomize leader personalities' option. (And of course the select religion trait)

What this has meant is that in Every game each nation is effectively a new entity.

My Good friend Ragnar in charge of the Greeks..?

Or the Evil Stalin of Persia!

A tech leading Japan under Augustus Caesar?!!!

Great fun. The only drawback is the creation of colonies. In my last game Hannibal of the Vikings and Sitting Bull of Russia have created Colonies. Unfortunately this has meant a doppelganger of Ragnar and Stalin have been created which can be confusing in Diplomacy!

Randomize leader personalities is great

Happy Shaka who doesnt give diplomatic penalties for more or less anything was funny :)

Fun not knowing what your neighbors will act like, you could get Axe rushed by Gandhi

Yeah, this is an annoying bug/oversight. However it is one small enough to be corrected in a future patch, so you should probably consider it a temporary problem.

Unless she was channeling Ghandi's spirit.

Sitting there on a stack of superpowered praets and not even using them when you call her mother a whore.

Isabella of the Anybody-who-doesn't-start-with-mysticism is so very good.

You rush to convert her to your own religion, of course. Then her name stop being Isabella and becomes Fluffy, your personal Attack Dog.

Random Personalities is awesome! Makes every game very different.

Yeah, its cool, but it can get confusing sometimes. In my current game I have Catherine of the Aztecs, Montezuma of the Mayans, and Pacal II of the Sumerians. There have been a couple close calls when somebody asks me to do something such as "Cancel deals with the Mayans." Wouldn't it be easier to say the leader name?

Actually wouldn't it be better to say both

"Declare war on that Son of a goat Stalin of the Persians!"

Yes it is good, but I have found myself mobilising and declaring war against a civ I mistook for another... :/
