When I was away at school some of the kids used to play this "game" during work crews to pass the time.

Basically one person is the "dungeon master" (so to speak, he didn't call himself that, I don't remember any titles actually, it was pretty informal) and the other is the adventurer. Usually the story would start out where the adventurer had just ran away from the school we were at and he had $20, some clothes, some water, perhaps a bike, etc. From there he would decide what to do and the DM would introduce events and characters that he would encounter along the way. We weren't too serious about this, sometimes the DM would plague the player with all sorts of ridiculous and unlikely circumstances. Often it would be hilarious to listen to, these guys were usually pretty creative.

Anyway, I figure we could do something like that here, with the DM and players alternating each post : DM posts starting scenerio, next poster as player says what he's going to do, next new poster is DM and decides what the new situation is, etc.

Only guideline I might add is : DM's - try not to create any unsolvable situations (you can have the player arrested and put in jail but give the player an option or two to get out if he is creative enough).

Think this is feasable?

I'll be curious to see if this takes off!

Before we start, does anyone have any ideas to improve upon mine? I know the messege board is quite a different medium so we might as well maximize it's benefits.

I think the idea is 1 DM and 1 adventurer but whoever happens to post at the right time will be the DM or adventurer. Kind of like starting a story then letting someone else tell a part the someone else tell a part etc.

Ok anyway, like Gif said, whoever happens to be posting after the adventurer gets to be the DM and after the DM gets to be the adventurer.

Anyway, I'll start the scenerio, I'll make it not too detailed right now so future DM's can have some creative leeway rather than clamping it down to a particular time or place.

I figure we'll do the whole amenesia thing. It's been done a lot but I like it.

You walk in a small clearing in what seems to be some kind of forest. You can tell how far the trees go from where you are, for all you know you could be in an unbulldozed lot in some developing suburb.

You realize you are somewhat confused. You don't know where you are, not even the country, or how you got there. You can't even remember your first name. It's quite disconcerting...

You can think though at least, you have all your physical wits about you. You don't feel any particular aches or pains like you've been beat up, though now that you begin to scan yourself you do notice feeling a bit drowsy, like you've been drugged.

You pick yourself up from the tree you've been leaning against and look around you. Doesn't seem to be a discernable path out of this clearing. You look at your watch, it is stopped, the hands at 12 and 2 for 2PM, or is that AM, it doesn't really matter because the watch is stopped. Judging from the sky though and the shadows from the faith sun breaking thru it appears to be around midday.

You have a small backpack with some pens, coins and an empty notebook, you have $300 in ten dollar bills and a pack of Marlboro ciggeretts. Funny you don't feel like a smoker, and have no desire for them. Just as you are closing the bag a little folder note falls out of the notebook you thought was empty. It reads, "keep hidden, keep moving East, the man with the black cap will find you, he will guide you from there, in the meantime, keep hidden". What does it all mean? You take out a pen and write out the first two words of the note, it is not your writing. You don't know what to make of it all, nor who to trust...

Let the adventure begin! :)

So what do you do now?

Feel free to keep your adventurer posts as short as consise or as long and detailed as you'd like. In the DM posts try to give as much detail as possible while still leaving room more mystery, innovation and plenty of adventurer options.

Reluctantly deciding to follow the strange note's advice I wait around for a few hours untill the sun starts to drop to the (Western) horizon and then exit the clearing on the opposite side, following my shadow. I also note whether the coins of my backback are US currency like the bank-notes.
