In principle ,a multisite demomocracy game is like a regular democracy game but instea of played by 1 team VS the AI every nation in it is a human team from a specific civilization fansite. There are about 10 teams or fansite's participating. (2 game's of 5 teams at the moment ,wich are the semi finals ,from each 2 games 3 surviving nations go trough to the final)

As such ,fansite's like Apolyton or the German civilization webring have each a team in this game ,there are more ,and many of these fansite's have different style's of play ,in internal goverment or in foreign policy/reputation.
GCA (gamecatcher-alliance from the gamecatcher forum's) for ex. are a very warlike nation with an obscure reputation ,it's their warmongering that got them elliminated a number of turn's ago.
Nations like Apolyton and civfanatics have quite good reputations and this advantages their diplomacy ,although neither are weaklings on the war front ,both these nations have also a very democratic internal goverment with full ellections while some other nations like C3B (civ3-Brasil) have a democracy where they ellect top officials who then appoint lower officials and even other nations have internal system that is more like technocracy (the elite rule the nation) or non represented democracy (just guys who work in team withought really having specific positions) ,some nations got party's with different agenda's (like C3b) while others like our nation doesn't use party's and rather let individuals run for a position.

Because of it's size and importance in the civilization community in general ,Many of the players in the ISDG or MSDG have players that have been or are long posters on Civfanatics ,or Apolyton for that matter ,wich is a slight advantage in public relations that these teams have ,other nations are know for their great micromanagement or millitary knowledge. However in ISDG's diplomatic skill and reputation often is determinal and thus IMO the diplomaticly skillfull country's are usually at an advantage ,while warmongering nations with a bad reputation are IMO often at a disatvantage (wich GCA may have learned by now. :D ,and hopefully C3b soon to ;) )

Ali, I made some personal experiences of what this is all about. Beyond the official version you see here, I recommend you to read a couple of debates and threads, so you know more the unoffical version. There are indeed many truths to this.
