F-14 Tomcat

I am away from my computer, so I may be remembering this wrong, but if I recall there exists the F-14 Tomcat as a naval fighter unit within the game as a standard unit without culture requirements (it's the last part I'm not sure if I remember correctly).

If I do remember, is it just a remnant of the old unique unit system or is it actually intended for its place? It just seems odd, given the non-specificity of other units outside of culture wonders.

I'm not sure at the moment. There were a lot of efforts to duplicate real world aircraft that got implemented into the mod and then a lot of work to then label them more generically. Some may be used at the moment as uniques and others may still need to be given a more generic label. The XML Type tags for them still harken back to the way they were originally introduced from importing from another mod.

Looks like we're breaking saves this version again with a major and very helpful project Alberts2 is undertaking so we may also take advantage of the save breakage to correct those labels to the more generic terms we're using for them now.

Sounds fair. I suppose some of my confusion came from the fact that the F-14 upgrades to what I would think would be it's generic version already, which is the naval carrier fighter I believe. Don't get me wrong, it definitely has a nice model. Might be a place for it somewhere. Make an Iranian culture and give it to them given they're the only country still using it, haha.
