I know a little about the f15 but is it really the best UU for USA
I think that the Patriot 3 attack 1 defence 2 movement and a ability that attacks first so that the first move the other unit must defend and have a chance of getting hurt but not hurting the patriot (mabye called sharpshooter if you don't think that patriot is a good name because the sharpshooters would attack british with kentucky rifles and kill them before Britan could attack) but the patriots would attack supply and from behind or from flanks before the redcoats could prepare

1.) Punctiation really helps get your point across. These little things called 'full-stops' (.) mark the end of a sentance, and helps you structure what you are saying so that others can understand you. They are subsitiuted as a written form of someone taking a breath.

2.) Sounds like a good idea, but I don't really understand 100% what these guys are. Can you elaborate?

During the American revolution, america had people that would ambush the british troops and run. basicly use gurella tactics.
they also went by the name of Minutemen.

The F-15 wasn't the right thing to make UU. The Americans should have had a Nimitz-class Carrier with 8 planes. That would've been better.

Yeah, but carriers can't attack, can they? No attack = no combat victory by a UU = no golden age :(

I like the Patriot idea, but have better stats on it, so it's available later in the tech tree (very late middle ages-early industrial age).

America successfully tested bat bombing. They strap bombs to bats and release them over enemy hangars. The bats fly and hide in the parked planes, chew off the straps ad bomb, and fly off. Precision striking...but Hitler's defeat and then the A-bomb made it a moot point.

Don't ask how to make it a UU tho!

is that true about the bat bombs? thats the silliest thing ive ever heard. where'd you hear about that?

The version I read was back when the male parental unit was still getting Air Force magazine. It was a weapon they used a couple of times in Japan. Essentially they would strap timed incendiaries to the bats and then let them go. The bats would, in theory, head toward dark places and the time would set off during the day. The bats had a tendency to not hide anywhere useful and so the project was scrapped.

You want REALLY strange, ask about the pigeon guided antishipping bombs. :)

I ask. Please do tell. Any other innovative/strange/just plain dumb war experiments you all know of?

The US should have gotten the F-22 Raptor, with stealth capabilities.

That seems to be more of a near future age type unit. Standard unit would be eurofighter.

Basically what they did was put up a fairly small ship silhoette and train the pigeon to peck at the center of it. The bomb had a (I think) glass tip that the pigeon could see through and pressure sensors to move the fins. So long as the pigeon kept pecking the very center, the bomb moved straight down. If the bomb was off, the pigeon pecking in that direction would cause the bomb to drift in that direction. It actually worked, but innovations in actual guidance made it a bit of an outdated concept.

I'm thinking this belongs more in the World History forum though, heh.

I'd love it if the American UU to be the SEALs, marine with 10/6/1 points. But logically as someone else posted it should be a carrier that carries extra planes. Whenever there is a conflict, which unit goes first ? it's always the carrier. About triggering golden age, I'd say it's not a big issue to set it such that if a bomber in the carrier attacks an enemy golden age is trigerred.

That would be even more useless... My games always ended - or I didn't bother to finish them - before I got Stealth...

which raises the question: has anyone actually built F-15s rather than the regular jet fighters? by that late in the game, there usually seems to be little point.

I never got jet fighters, just f 15s. And the Eurofighter? Maybe for European countries....not USA.

It would be nice for the American UU to ba a little earlier in the game when it would actually be useful. The Navy SEAL idea would be pretty cool. Maybe it sould be the P-51 Mustang....something a little more useful.

P 51 wasn't that good quite just like the tanks we were good with those because we could make more and had more men to fly them. Navy Seals would just be a marine with paratrooper ability on land with a little better attack but it would still be late.

Black Waltz,

People in glass houses dude! Check your spelling.
