Well have you?

Are you such a fanatic that you just have to get other people playing this game, so you can talk about the game even when you're not on Civfanatics?

I have...

I've infected 6 people with the Civ3 virus so far...
So, am I the recordholder, or is there somebody out there worse than me (or better, but that depends on your perspective ;))...

I've taught thousands of teenagers and have told most of them how great Civ1/2/3 is. I couldnt count how many I converted ;) Several of my ex-students post here (you know who you are)

When I visit friends with kids who are into computer games, I buy them Civ. I think I started up a little Civ group in Sweden that way.

Spread the word.....

Well, just my girlfriend, although I'm still not completely sure if she actually likes it, or is just humoring me ;)

Successfully only the wife. I needed to in order to make her understand why i needed so much time to play. Some other friend listens to what I do and visits the site from time to time but no longer plays.
Darkness you manage to keep at least 6 friends while playing civ? You must be a student or something.
Col, if only I had teachers like you ...

Indeed, if only to have a teacher like col. When I was at university, we had a professor who loved Mahjong, so we had an assignment to write a computer program that could play Mahjong, and all the AIs we wrote played against each other, and whoever won got the highest mark.

What I dreamt of is a professor who loved Civilization, and gave us writing an AI for a Civilization-like game as an assignment. That'd be a dream :)

Try and try and try but no...

I was the last at work to get sucked in (they can all vote "1 person") but the only one still playing. My wife abhors video games (I should be reading and watching HGTV with her.) so that option is out. I'm holding hope that my three daughters (currently 2, 1 and 1 years old) will eventually share in my fun.:D The 2year old already likes playing the games at disney and PBS website and is quite good at moving the mouse/typing on the keyboard. She likes "helping daddy" play civ but I'd never finish GOTM that way. Push R honey...no no no no not D!*&$^(*@%

At least she is trying my wife hates it ! My daughter like control freaks loves to "help" :)

Hmm, I don't think I actually have introduced the game to anyone, just told some people that I play civ3 and that it is fun.

Same for me . so I do not intend to wage a war on this matter :D
But my brother is also addicted :)

I've tried. But my boyfriend still just gives me funny looks.

I tried with my brother-in-law, too, but I only had 15 minutes to work on him, so I don't think it stuck. Judging from my sister's evil-eye while I was showing him the game, it's probably just as well. :)

1 other person...a co-worker. We have a 3 player succession game going on at work. Makes for fun lunch talk. We all get to sit down and discuss what our empire will do next..

My wife is not against video games per se..but she is certainly against me spending so much time on them. I would never dare try to get her hooked - again.

I used to visit the Atari Forums (used to be Infogrames Forums) a lot. I often post link to CivFanatics there (to the article forum here) and encourage them to check out the GOTM forum, so I don't know how many I have infected. Sometimes, I just show up at the offical MOO3 forum (did you know that I have over 5000 posts there?) to start a little flame war between MOO3 vs Civ3. Just simply mentioned that you like Civ3 better than MOO3 and you would be very likely at war with almost the whole community.;) Wasn't that fun?;) That reminds me, I haven't talked to those MoOFanatics for awhile, I wonder how they are doing these days...

There was an informal gamer group at my last job. Only one of them liked the Turn-Based Strategy Games. Actually this was pre-Civ3 days. I got him started playing Civ2 while I was doing StarCraft. He actually got me excited about Civ3, rather than vice-versa.

I tried to get my buddy who actually own's civ3 to get more involved and try GOTM or SG's but his wife hates the game more than mine.

He actually introduced me to Civ2 and we used to play online. Can't convince him to get PTW though and may have just killed my chances to play with him last week when he visited from California and I was crushing him in a hotseat game. He really needs to learn the power of the granary and 40 turn research. Help I recieved from this site. :)

My one friend I've addicted is one I cannot get to come into CFC or Gotm...I really thing his addiction had several unexposed levels ;)

My 12 year old cousin trying to show him a great game and get him away from the crap he was used to play

When I 1st started playing I would tell my best friend about it all the time, and he would just look at me and say is that all you do. When I finnaly convinced him to sit down and play a hotseat game, he became addicted. However He does not want to join the 21st century(no PC) so now every time I talk to him he wants to come over and play. It really gets hard to complete the gotm when other people are bugging you to play hotseat games:)

I also loaned my vanilla civ game to my sister and Brother in law and they both love it and also My best friends Brother just bought the game:)

4. pretty good for only eight months:)

I've been looking to get new people to play Civ and submit GOTM, mainly so there are some more submission that I've got a chance of beating:).

Haven't done to well so far, I got a work-mate playing, but he's too scared to play GOTM yet. My brother mike.pink has played the last 2, and I've got a 100% record against him so far! If my playing form continues then I'm really going to have to do better at recruiting the cannon fodder:)

I got a coworker interested in CivIII just two weeks before I was laid off (due to corporate downsizing). He and I will occasionally get together and discuss CivIII among other things.
