Faction has Discovered your Treachery

Can someone help me figure out what happened here:

I was playing SMACX with a friend on Librarian. I used the Diplomacy command "A joint attack on my enemy" to ask Yang (Pact) to go to war with Roze (Treaty). After having Yang accept, I received a message saying "The Angels have discovered your treachery" or somesuch and they have declared Vendetta.

The Angels have not infiltrated me, and I'm relatively certain they haven't infiltrated Yang either as he is further away from her than I am. How did the Angels know that I bribed Yang?

Also, is this a new feature in SMACX, b/c I don't ever remember this happening in Vanilla?

You don't need infiltration to learn about diplomatic actions, e.g. you will sometimes see the message, "The Hive and the Angels have signed a treaty of friendship." I can only speculate that your diplomatic correspondence was intercepted.
