I am very new to Civ VI. What can be done with faith if I don't have a religion? Missionaries, apostles, and gurus see useless. Thanks!

Is your question actually about Vanilla as the post is tagged? The answers will change a little.

In both Vanilla and R&F, the Jesuit Education belief lets you buy campus and theatre square buildings with faith. Very powerful. National Parks are pretty well the same too.

For other uses of faith (Theocracy to buy units, buying great people, religious units for Papal Primacy, Monumentality golden age dedication etc.) some things are nerfed / buffed in R&F.

It is about Vanilla.
So the only way to use Faith is to have Theocracy. This is very limiting once better choices are available.
Don't I need to found a religion to have Jesuit Education?
Am I missing something, or is Faith sort of pointless without a religion?

Yeah you need a religion to use Jesuit Education, either your own or one of the AI which has the belief.

Other than Theocracy spending your faith on the patronage of Great People is also a decent option.
National Parks also require faith and are amazing when going for a cultural victory. Even when you are going for a different victory type, they still provide 2 amenities to the city they are built in and 1 amenity to the four closest cities in your empire, so they could offer an alternative to Entertainment Complexes if u have the spots (w/ high appeal) for them.

But yeah, I have to admit you can win games perfectly fine without generating any faith at all. The things mentioned above are most of the time not integral to your core strategy, so you do not need to purely focus on generating faith just to use them. But, if you for instance captured some Holy Sites from the AI in an early war or just have lots of excess faith for some reason, they are nice to enhance your game with.

It's not as limiting as you might imagine. Do you really need all those policy slots? And faith is useless in Vanilla, so running a theocracy w/ Adam Smith, Forbidden City + Big Ben can certainly get the job done. Why run any other govt type in vanilla? AI's love holy sites as well as declaring wars they have no chance of winning, so religion or no religion, theocracy is the way to go.
