Fallout: Tame The Wastes

grrr I can't get any useful information from the debug...

I think this is the intermittent crash that has been causing me problems, I just can't get any revealing information to help me solve the issue..

it happens so early in the game that I do not know what could be causing it.. it doesn't seem to be connected to anything.. i just can't figure out what could be happening, it always seems to happen 'in the middle' of everything, no tech or unit or building completion, no improvement completion, i can't find any kind of 'event' that causes it.. it just seems to happen for no reason. At least not one I can discern.. It just seems completely random, and doesn;t happen every time which makes it even harder to figure out!

All I can suggest for now is start a new game, I know that is not much of an answer but I am really struggling to find a source for the problem!
 
My only guess is that it is not Multiplayer related, but something to so with the AI, or a none human player event.. but what exactly I don't know...

EDIT:
Ok i may have found the 'area' of code that seems to be involved with this crash, but I still don't have a solution how to fix it.. I have posted up to see if anyone has any bright ideas, so fingers crossed a wasteland wanderer will appear to save us all!
 
Tried singleplayer, still the same bug...

yep it is definately the same issue, I have someone who is helping me try to get to the bottom of what I have broken! :D

The crash is intermittent, I have had it in 2 of 6 games that I have played thus far, so there is some benefit to trying again, I know how sucky it is when you get into a good game and it crashes!

Also you seemed to have a weird map? for now to get the full benefits of the game, I suggest playing scenario maps random 1 and random 2 because otherwise three of the faction will not found cities and you will end up with no barbs. you also seemed to have a map with no trees and a lot of grass (which is actually ice in the code) So it was a right weird one :D
 
Well this bug gets more and more confusing...

I can't be certain yet, I need more data comparisons, but i think it is somehow linked to the building of the armed survivor, but here is where it gets weirder. When I put a sheriff next to New Reno to so that I could see if building the unit was the issue, the unit built fine and the game continued on for about 5 turns without a problem (that was as many turns as i played) then when I reloaded the save and tried to play through again, (without the sheriff to see it) the game crashed straight away again...

Now I just have no idea what that is about!!

One of the files (Art?) had a leaderheads.rar within the .rar. Since there already were leaderhead folders, I assumed it was just a duplicate and deleted it. I'll re-download and overwrite the leaderheads and see if that works.


Update: Nope; didn't work. Advice?

Here is a savegame containing a reproducable crash (small map, 6 civs, normal speed) when ending the turn.

I couldn't really tell what could have been the problem, though. Nothing spectacular is happening in my own civ and I don't see anything happening for the AI civs in World Builder, either. I tried moving a few units around, deleted a couple of slavers/barbs in WB to prevent them from slaving, to no effect.
Don't remember the custom game options, sorry.

I really like the mod, I was going to compile a list with suggestions and such later on. But it is looking very promising.:goodjob:
 
Weird, I'm playing the BoS on [Prince, standard Map, Great plains, normal speed] and have a settler as my only unit but I cannot found a new city.

Am I missing something here ? :crazyeye:
During another game, I also saw the BoS (as an AI) go down very early in the game, so maybe they had the same problem as me now.

Edit: I started a new custom game with the same settings (now choosing the BoS on purpose), and now it worked.
 
Yeah, BoS, Enclave and Super Mutants can only found settlements on 'Vaults', if you are playing a non-scenario map, you have to 'fix' it by placing a vault under the settlers starting location for BoS, Enclave and Mutants, otherwise the ai cannot found it's first city, after that it seems to be fine and will build up normally, it just does not seem to be able to get that first city unless it starts on a Vault.

Thanks. A little into my BoS game I found it seems that this limitation applies to secondary cities as well. So far I found exactly one location for a new city which happens to be on top of a vault as well.

I actually like this, but it's a good thing to know upfront ^^
 
yes they can only found on vaults.

Once the game is stable I can properly start to development the differences between each faction, and add in all the pedia content to explain their uniqueness as well, but seeing as we can still only barely get to the mid game I haven't bothered yet :D I am very excitied for the moment when I can run an ai game and watch it get all the way to the end without a single CTD :D

But I do mention it in the main mod thread, that the 3 civs need vaults to found.
 
Hi there your mod is very entertaining and addictive! Cant wait for next version.

However when I play as Raiders for some reason I get a "icon size mismatch: 64 size is only allowed by the city indicator compositor!" error after some time playing and several turns later the game crashes, so basically I cant continue. Any thoughts?

Also: anyone else finding the BOS too weak? Every game they are always the least powerful.
