Has anyone made a mod to increase naval speeds yet? Three squares for a caravel on a Huge map is ridiculous. Maybe double it, just double movement for all vessels. Anyone done this already, or do I have to attempt my first foray into XML?

Should be fairly easy to edit in the XML sheets give it a try,i dont know of such a mod yet.

Back in Civ3 I added 50% to all ship movement speeds, but made Coast tiles only cost 1 MP while Sea and Ocean cost 2 MP. (Submarines, though, kept their old movements and had 1 MP for all water tiles) I plan on doing something similar in my Civ4 mod; it had the VERY nice effect that naval units kept closer to the shores during the turns, which made coastal defenses much more valuable.

Heh, I opened CIV4UnitInfos in Notepad, searched for "caravel" then scrolled down to this line: <iMoves>3</iMoves>

I've never seen an XML file from the inside before, but I think I'll see a lot from now on! This is unbelievably easy!

:goodjob: Everyone should look at least once. It's incredibly easy to get in to.

The first thing I did; create a new unit skin (the scout in my sig). After seeing how damned easy it was, i created an entire frickin civilization (also in my sig). :D

I Actually already did this, and doubled the movement of all units for my 56 x 35(224 x 140 I think) Terra map. It's Easy to do, but it's a huge pain to edit the movement points of all the units.

I've done this too now, but only for the navy. As there are only a handful of sea units, it didn't require much work at all :)

I've looked for the file, but can't find it. What file has the movement rates for the units? Thanks.

I see 'iMoves' thanks...
