I like the Persians because of their awsome UU and because they're scientific and industrious

This is, it seems, for civ III vanilla. In that case, I may go with you, but if it were conquests, I would say the Ottomans: great traits (scientific and industrious) and awesome UU (replaces the cavalry (6.3.3) witht the Siphia (8.3.3). [edit: fixed movemement stats.]

The Immortals are still immense even after all this Conquest business. And that is from someone who prefers Religious Civs

The Persians were the first civ I ever played with. I did not understand most game concepts at that time, so I chose them because Scientific and Industrious sounded good. I was not aware what bonuses that had, but now I realize it was a good choice. I have tried most civs since and I can't say which is best - all have their good sides. Persians in just my favourite, it doesn't mean best.

Your forgot the sipahi costs 20 more shields and that they have 3 movement, not 1

In the last ten polls on "my favorite civ", I always answered with the Persians. This time I'm going with the Greeks. Scientific and commercial, just try and out-research me.

How anyone can choose a civ other than the Chinese for vanilla is beyond me. Industrious with a 3 mp UU at Chivalry.

For Vanilla, my favourite are the Chinese and Iroquois. For PTW and C3C, my favourites are the Ottomans and Vikings.

Why?

Because not all Civs are mentioned. I do not know if you do not have Conquests or whatever, but this makes the poll incomplete.

I like the Celts - I like their UU. Agricultural is not a bad trait either, even if I would prefer industrious.

Of the standard 16 vanilla Civs, I like Persia.

I like Persia, but in C3C, the Vikings' UU is too good to pass up. 6 attack with invention for no resources? AND amphibous attack? I mean consider this- you're in the industrial era and you are fighting a war. You cut off the enemy's resources, so he can only build riflemen and longbowmen, neither of which have enough attack to compete in the industrial era. But if it's the vikings, you'll be facing down hordes of 6 attackers, which is what you'd be facing normally, as well as having to defend your costal cities better.

I have to go with the Babs. They just suit my "peaceful builder with a crapload of culture" playing style the best.

I like the Japanese most because I play on tiny pange maps for conquest. I need cheap temples for "stealing" territorry and rescourses early, after 10 rounds iI get a temple (rushing) Also not to have to wait for new goverment is change. I also play 100% millitary and need the support there. The samurais are ok but not that good - anyway a good excuse for building the crusades

I voted the Romans but the Germans are a very close second. I just love rebuilding the glorious Roman Empire. Rome was the first CIV I played in CIV3, so they are kinda special to me.

Germany because I love the Panzer, it allows me to wreak serious havoc on other CIVS.

I personally like playing America the most. Started because I like playing as my own country, but now I realize how strong they are especially in the begining with expansion.
