Well. I am an old man. The only ones I have experience of are Dark side of the Moon, The Wall, and Animals (is that right?).

The Wall, ..The Wall,....the wall,.........the wall,...

I can't believe I forgot Animals. I actually own that CD, unlike Final Cut, yet I remembered only the second. I did, however, anticipate this kind of thing, which is why I had the option "other" added, as opposed to a specific correction. I was really in a hurry when I posted the question in the first place. Sorry about that.

In any case, I would say that Wish You Were Here is my favorite Pink Floyd song, followed by High Hopes, Dogs (how did I forget Animals anyway?), and Echoes. I think so highly of so many of their songs that to choose between them is harder than selecting a favorite CD for me.

Edited for coherency. I really need to read these things before I post them! ;)

I voted for Wish You Were Here mainly because I like the song Wish You Were Here, but I also like the overall blending and texture of the songs on the CD.

"The Wall" is just the GREATEST rock epos of all time!!!:goodjob:

Has anybody ever watched the movie??? It´s GREAT, too!:D
And the concert in Berlin shortly after the fall of the Wall was simply great and really symbolic!!!

Ummagumma! ... No seriously... Dark side, Animals or the final cut... Meddle! no... hmm... WYWH maybe... Or the Wall... hmm... Saucer has some great songs.. Not to mention Piper... Or Atom Heart....

But I`ll have to stick with. . . Dark Side of the Moon!

BTW: Who can guess who`s quote this is:

Black Sabbath - Paranoid - oops...wrong thread.

Dark Side of the Moon is my favorite Pink Floyd CD, although; Division Bell provides some nice space for introspection.

I believe Roger Waters penned the words: Ashes and diamonds, foe and friend, we are all equal in the end.

"......oh, and by the way, which one's Pink?"

Dark Side of the Wall. Definitely. :goodjob: They are together for me.

Out of curiosity, anyone here ever tried that listening to DSOTM while watching Wizard of Oz?

No...but I once played it backwards and my next-door-neighbor (who happened to be mucking about in his backyard) went into spasms, suffered a severe rectal prolapse and eventually had to be hospitalized.

Yes.. I have... The similarities are not exactly striking... Except that the whirlwind starts at the exact time as "the great gig in the sky"... But there are maaany times you would think that something should happen in the film... but it doesnt...

Oh my hero, Mr Waters. What can I say? My favorite. Surprised and glad to see so many fellow Floyd fans here at this site. Guess it make's sense: civ is a thinking man's game and i always thought of Floyd as a 'thinking man's band' (some would say a 'smoking man's band' but that's another tangent).

I'll be the one of the few to chime in for Final Cut as a personal favorite, although I admit that the Wall and Dark-side are, from an objective standpoint, stronger overall musical efforts.

"Animals" is great. "Wish you were here" i find a bit of a snooze although I like the title song.

But wow,the final cut. Lyrics like poetry.

she stood in the doorway the ghost of a smile
haunting her face like a cheap motel sign
her cold eyes imploring the men in their macs
for the gold in their bags or the knives in their backs
stepping up boldly one put out his hand
he said, "i was just a child then now i'm only a man"

do you remember me? how we used to be?
do you think we should be closer?

by the cold and religious we were taken in hand
shown how to feel good and told to feel bad
tongue tied and terrified we learned how to pray
now our feelings run deep and cold as the clay
and strung out behind us the banners and flags
of our possible pasts lie in tatters and rags

do you remember me? how we used to be?

Nobody ever agrees with me, but I've always liked Ummagumma best.

Hence my nickname.

PIPER!... All the way! (But the Interstellar Overdrive isn't as good as the one on "Tonite Lets All Make Love in London")

Then the Wall and Saucerful...

Then basically newer to older with Animals as my least fave.
(Final Cut was a Roger Solo album)

Roger has the best lyrics and Syd the best music. (Though Dave rules!)

Anything after Waters left is feces!

Are you serious Cilpot? I was chuckling to myself the whole time the cd played... As soon as the film goes to color, the witch on the bike, the scarecrow, the lollipop kids... Ah well... :goodjob:
