What features, if any, do you think should be incorperated into Orbis from other FfH mods.

Obviously FF is the grandaddy, so here's my take on their Civs. YMMV.

* Archos - Interesting Civ, clearly thought out.
* Jotnar - Another interesting Civ, balance issues still being squared out in FF at the mo.
* Dural - Nice idea, but doesn't feel like it has enough substance at present. Also Dural ~= Freemasons in FF, whereas Order of Arches = Freemasons in Orbis. It may be worth taking some of the ideas and applying to OoA though.
* Khadi - The redemption theme is nice, but it's probably better off as another Amurite leader than as a separate Civ.
* Austrin - Not different enough to set it apart from the other explorer nations. Possibly better off being combined with Lanun or Grigori (for the Swashbuckling / exploring side) or the Chislev (nature side)
* Chislev - Definite potential. Using the units / Buildings in Chiyu's Extra mod (which in turn are all draw from Civ4 / Col anyway) can fill out this "Native American" tribe.

Other mods with things to offer:

* More Events. (More diversity)
* Unofficial Erebus Map (With a little editting for the new Civs)
* There was a mod a while back which made Ancient Forest clearer to see. Probably worth a shot.

So what's your take?

I agree about the Archos, I would wait on the Jotnar and I think that the Austrin are still being worked on, but I think they are ore could very easily be different enough to make it worth while. If planning the significant changes in the OoA that would necessitate from a combo with the Dural the other guilds would need a significant overhaul as well to balance, and they are probably fine as they are, no need to fix what isn't broke. The Cualli should be brought in before the Khadi, and no idea about the Chislev. More events are always good and Maps as well.

My view (which I'm sure most of you know) is I like the redemption theme of the Kahdi and which it could be used somewhere.

However, I am fully behind the idea worked out between myself and Ahwaric about using the Kahdi gates to be more kami sites or something that would allow a Asian Tibetan/Nepalese/Indian civ to summon medium powered elementals based on which mana nodes they possessed.

If it can be done, the Cualli could be just the evil leader of the Matzatl. Of course that brings up the idea if you can tie most of a civ to a alignment, wouldn't the Svartalfar be the evil part of the elves?

(Which brings up another interesting idea: Ahwaric wants a G/N/E for each race. It would be interesting to play around with the theme of the evil Summer elves and the good "Xmas" snow elves as it were. :p)

Anyway, I've been pushing for the addition of a goblin race based on the Archos.

As for the Austrin and the Dural, I don't think they have enough uniqueness to be Civs. I think the Jotnar do and I liked playing that mod but agree they need to be bug fixed better.

I would like to see the changeable Erebus map from FfH. Beyond that, most of FfH and FF don't have the flavor I've come to enjoy in Orbis. In fact playing FfH is almost like playing vanilla Civ these days...something I don't do.

I can't say much about FF since the last few times I've upgraded it, it is still far to buggy to play. I mean I have gotten so many emails from the FF 0.50 bug thread that occasionally my email server thinks it is spam!

These 'good' Svartalfar would have nothing to do with Christmas. I have simple reasoning.

Christmas makes me happy. (good food, some presents, family, not necessarily in order of preference)
All this 'good' crap makes me unhappy (understatement really).

So we can conclude Christmas cannot have anything to do with 'good'.

Besides, who wants to play 'good' dark elves?

In fact, I don't want any more civs from FF to Orbis. FF has lots of cool stuff but aside from Scions and lizards, their new civs are boring.

don't merge the elves simply so we can watch epic elven wars
