"Each leader has a personality made from a combination of several different 'flavors' along a ten point scale, each game the impact that a certain flavor has over this civ can be +/- two points , allowing for a different experience each game. For example Russia may have a score of 8 for their expansion flavor but at the start of the game the actual score could be any where from 6 to 10."

ok.

i admit it

i don't know what this is saying

anyone throw a light of generality mixed with a concrete phrase or two?

My take on it is that flavours = tendencies.

So Russia would tend to be fairly expansionist in games because of their score of 8/10. In certain games they will be very expansionist because their score could be up to 10/10.

Other times they could be slightly inclined to expansion with a 6/10 score.

So they'll always have a tendency towards expansion but the degree of that will depend on a random roll at the start of the game.

well thanks there

i can understand "tendencies" - good word choice switch

looks like i will be figuring out ol civ yet again

now that i think about it, i grew up- almost my whole life- with civ
surreal civ'n- can't wait

Yep. ciV is gonna rock. ;)

It's looking great so far.

Think of it as the AI's "strategy preferences".

We also don't know exactly what these parameters will affect, but its possible they'll affect a number of variables. Eg: "expansion" flavor might increase the relative number of settlers and workers they build and emphasize techs that reduce city maintenance costs (eg allowing courthouse type buildings), "city growth" flavor might place more emphasis on buildings like granaries that speed growth and on techs that increase food tile yields, "trade" flavor might make open borders agreements more common and favor buildings and techs that increase trade routes.

I guess the point is; each flavor could potentially influence a wide range of decisions in tech choices, building construction choices, unit construction choices, diplomatic actions and so forth. Rather than just being a single AI parameter (like a given AI parameter in Civ4) that only influences a handful of decisions.

Yeah I think he understood it when he said "I can understand 'tendencies".

Btw why is this thread also not closed?

lol

i think someone has to insult me - then it gets closed if i defend myself

Art charges into the fray banners flying- and always gets creamed by commerce

your breath stinks

well, i can only defend myself against untruths-

no big deal- used to it- no one is really dumb- they know how to take care of anyone that is different than they or their friends are- can't change that - first thing people in control do

i like it now tho

in ol civ3 and 4 i would go into multiplayer- attack and defend- then take a break and go on the board-
and defend and attack again

your breath doesn't stink

lol

well then - i think i can call you schizophrenic since i know absloutely nothing about you- or manners-because thats cool apparently

but then you might get your threads closed.
