FFH and the AI

Hi,

just a quick question: are you guys in contact with Blake at all? He seems to be the number one AI guy right now, but from what I can gather from his thread, he's concentrating on things that make Civ4:Warlords better. Have you tried talking to him to see if he could help on some FFH specific things (like teaching the AI to use magic) or are you working on that yourselves?

We aren't putting a ton of effort into AI right now (just because we are activly making changes). We look at AI implications of ideas and try to go for AI friendly solutions, but the real tweaking won't happen until everything is more locked down.

The work Blake did was readjusted the weighting for AI actions. Thats all good stuff (I checked a number of his changes into FfH) but to be honest what we really need isn't weighting changes, but new AI functions to handle some of the non-AI friendly functions. Like terraforming and targeted casting.

Oh I see! The AI is all in the SDK, that is to say all C++, right? (the only language I'm really good at coding is Python, unfortunately)

Yeah, which is why we use some of Blakes stuff. But Im not as worried about the old. Im more worried about the new.
