Attached is what i see when i try to start FfH Ice Age, i have deleted my whole Civ4 files and reloaded each and every disk from vanilla to BtS up to 3.13 and still get NO interface for FfH Ice Age?? Any ideas???

I didnt mess with any files also, if that helps.

Alt + I on game startup, as a long shot? Alt + I makes the interface disappear and reappear in normal gameplay.

Nope thats not it, i tried it, does nothing to the interface what so ever!!???

Anybody else????

btw this happend before 3.13 also.

Enable python errors, there must be some error occuring.

I get this exact same error. I hadn't tried to play prior it prior to the 3.13 patch. So I uninstalled and tried unpatched and with each of the patches up to 3.13 and I can't get an interface with any of them.

No other problems with the other mods though, they are fine.

The log is full of (apart from the python ones and it seems to not be able to find quite a few xml files - are you sure that the install is a complete one? Are there any errors in normal games?

I re-did my complete Civ4 files from vanilla to BtS and have the upgrades also.
I cant play a normal game of Ice Age, no interface, but other than that i get NO problems with any other MOD or Scenario.

ok I opened the FfH mod myself (first time too :mischief:) the xml errors are all there in my install as well so I assume that some things were left out but not entirely deleted from the code so that it is trying to load xml attributes that are not in the mod. I believe one can safely ignore the xml errors.
Now just in order to not leave out any (improbable) cause of errors: please remove the civ4lerts from your custom assets and see if the error is still there, I assume it is but you never now :mischief:
The error seems to be caused by the game not being able to give you a choice of techs to start researching and it aborts the attempt to draw an interface. There are two things that I find strange:
1) this is not a flawed code in that I could easily reproduce this on my machine (in fact the python error points to a line that has not changed since Vanilla at all - so it is failing input and not the python code either).
2) the game tries to save the map as a worldbuilder save - have you tried saving a game from the start?
another thing: the game should create an autosave of the start could you post that?
Also could you post what settings you use when starting a game?

Can anyone tell me if there is a fix for this problem. I have the exact same screen as shown strategyonly's orig post.

I am by far not an expert in this so I need an easy, laymans fix.

Thanks in advance

I was reading the No Interface post & duplicated what Ori had suggested...changed settings in .INI file, made screen shots, & attached all the logs & initial save.

I'm hoping this all makes sense to someone & it will be helpful.

This only happens in the FfH mod, so far.

Hi, here is a save from when I try to play the mod. It doesn't seem to create an autosave so I used ctrl & S.

I haven't changed anything with regard to the civ4lerts as I'm not sure how to do that. Didn't want to start deleting things in case I made things worse by deleting the wrong stuff.

If you cold post step by step instructions I can give it a go though.

The weird thing is that it only happens in the FfH mod - the file that is a problem on your install is not in the mods folder - but then again it is called aoi.txt. Note that this is completely different from the above: for some reason the game tries to access the aoi.txt and returns permission denied, meaning that either it is not there or more likely it is read/write protected and you do not have permission (as the user you are playing this on) to read this file.
please check if ...\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\aoi.txt is present and if there is any protection on it.

The civ4lerts was only a mod he had installed, please don't go messing around with your files :)
What you could do is do what I posted here and post just the logs zip - the screenshots are unnecessary, I forgot that it saves those alerts as part of the logs anyway.

Thanks for the response. I'll take a look at this tonight when I get home & post what I find out about the aoi.txt file.

Well I searched the whole computer & there is no aoi.txt on it. I assume that your going to want me to uninstall & reinstall the game. I really don't want to spend the time reinstalling. :(

I'd really prefer to see if someone else has the aoi.txt file & if I could just add that to the folder. Being a txt file I can't imagine that it is computer specific.

Do you think that may work?

Would someone please post the aoi.txt file so I could try it if someone with a whole lot more knowledge than me says its worth a try.

I will be out of town so will not be able to reply to any post until at least Sun night.

Thanks

Its in the folder Beyond the Sword(when you click on it) right below the Assets folder about half way down, it just a Text Document.

Hi, okay I found the civilizationIV.ini file and made the changes to it. I then loaded up the mod again but I did not get any error pop ups. (Still no interface).

So I saved the game. Then double checked the civilizationIV.ini file and the changed I had made had changed back to the way they had been before So in case I had not save it properly the first time I changed them again, saved the file and then reopened it and checked that the changes had saved which they had.

So I then reoloaded the mod again and no interface and no error pop ups.

Have attached the save file and the zip of the Logs folder. (I used winrar).

I hope this helps. :-)
